<LINK>

This is some author on hoopshype listing who he thinks should have been
selected for the "Next 10" (making a Greatest 60 NBA Players of All-Time).

His number 1 and 2?

A tie between LeBron and D-Wade

Sorry, it was just too laughable not to post - and his blurb on Kobe is
clearly straight hatorade.

(he thinks Kobe's scoring is overrated because of the limited touching
on the perimeter in today's game, but fails to mention that zone defenses
make it harder as well - and then to make things worse - he doesn't
diminish LBJ or Wade for playing in the same era and scoring fewer points).

Maybe he'll do a "Next 2" in a couple years so he can add Greg Oden
just before he sets foot on NBA hardwood.

Should I assume that from the collective silence of the 78 people who've
viewed this thread that you all feel Kobe should be #3 on the All-Time
Greats list behind LBJ and D-Wade?

Can I get an amen!?!?!

Can I get a "yeah that writer has lost his mind!?!?"

That's insane. There is no doubt that D-Wade and LBJ will make the list but they have done nothing in their careers yet. NOTHING.

"amen"
"yeah that writer has lost his mind"

I think the silence is the fact that no one cares. Sites like hoopshype are simply web sites where fans and homers go to act like they are legitamate sports writers.

Not that most 'legitamate' sports journalists are that much better...

For the sake of objectivity, it would be prudent to only include retired players (same as the Hall). Otherwise, you WILL end up with ridiculous selections based on hype and potential.

I'd like to believe (but I can't) the collective silence is because people here have realized that for the most part sports journalists lack integrity, knowledge, talent, common sense, logic. One thing they certainly don't lack is bias and almost all of them have a bias against Kobe Bryant.

All I can say is that Duncan and Bryant should be the first two guys added to the 50 greatest list and anybody who says otherwise probably has an agenda.

I hope most of ya got that I was kidding about the silence thing, I know
its not cuz people believe LBJ/Wade should be where they are on the guy's
list.

And yeah, with some excpetions (Eric), sites like Hoopshype, RealGM and
Hoopsworld do have some pretty terrible journalists.

Like I said, I just couldn't help but post it. Cuz it's just so sad.

I mean, I think LBJ ends up one of the greatest of all time, but at this
point the man hasn't even MADE THE PLAYOFFS

I kinda agree with LeBron being #1 of the next ten. But I rank Wade behind Kobe.

We can debate who should be on or off the list, but we gotta look at what the list even means. I'm a big LBJ fan, and though some (just some) Laker fans tend to not like Wade, I don't hate the guy. Thing is though, to even consider either guy is really a projection rather than production. There is a lot of risk in that, Laettner was the "best" college player when selected to the dream team, and looking back on it...does he belong in the same sentence as the other Hall of Famers?

I'm just saying give these guys some time, and they can be on the top 70 list when it comes around. The defense I'd have for LBJ is he single handedly saved the Cavs franchise. They are the closest NBA team to me, and me and my buddy would go up there twice a season to check them out when they had Miles, Davis (could crack a corny joke) and other guys. Total guess but I'd say they had less than 10,000 people at games, and would have to give away posters, lunch boxes, stickers, ect... and people still wouldn't come. THE next season, I'm at James' first home game against Denver, and they have red carpets and a packed house, and have had so since then. In the short time that James has been in the league he fills up a stat sheet like no other, and has lived up to the hype, unless you already expect him to to the unthinkable and lead a good but not great squad to a title.

As for Wade, what has he accomplished? My arguement isn't to include or exclude players, but I just want to know, what do you base it on? If you base it more on winning, how does this guy take Parrish or Worthy off? Both have productive years and titles, Parrish played the most NBA games didn't he? Payton has had some nice stats, Marion barely missed his list (would have been the straw), I just don't know what format this guy uses to grade this. Oh well, I know picking 10 is hard, but I know I can't agree to a list I don't understand.
