Hmmm, I first typed Lakers vs. Lakers in error, but perhaps the truth? They did seem to be their own worst enemy much of the time in the first half of the season.
It sure seems like a long time since the last game.
Lakers, back in the saddle.
Kobe, Lakers welcome Blazers to Staples Center
(Sports Network) - The Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers both try and get back on the winning track when the teams return to the court from the All-Star break tonight at the Staples Center.
This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs. On January 11th, Juan Dixon poured in 27 points and dished out six assists to lead the Trail Blazers to a 113-103 win over the Lakers at the Rose Garden.
Portland has won the last two contests in this series, while the home team has won 14 of the last 17 meetings. The Trail Blazers have lost seven of eight and 12 of their last 15 at the Lakers.
The Lakers play the fourth of a five-game homestand this evening. They are 1-2 on the stand. On February 15th, Josh Smith finished with 21 points and 15 rebounds as the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Lakers, 114-110, at the Staples Center.

Normally I would say "automatic win" for L.A. but now I don't know. I like to think they'll win but I just don't know. |

If Mihm's back I think we get a little recharge from that emotionally.
He's our only true option offensively in the low-post. |

If the Lakers can't win this one we might as well write the year off. The Blazers have the worst record in the western conference at (18-33) and they won't have Przybilla at center and probably not Theo Ratliff, who have both suffered with injury.
The Oregonian-McMillan says he'll bench poor performers |

The blazers suck hard, yet they always play the Lakers tough. This is one of those games where I could see Kobe putting up 50+ points. The blazers have a young team where no one plays D - shot blockers on the team are kinda soft and no really good permiter defenders. Also, on the Lakers side, we're just coming off the AS break, so some guys are gonna be lazy and unfocused, so Kobe might need to score a bunch. Should be interesting to watch! |

Ditto. After the stinkers from the first half of the season it's tough getting excited. |

Lakers 110 - Blazers 85
Mihm goes for 18 and 10, Lamar gets a triple double.
or...
Lakers lost 115-108... they forget that they also have to play defense. Kobe goes 5 for 15 from 3-point land. |

Well, if there is a trade a comin', we could see some indication in tonight's game: DNPs due to mysterious injuries and/or players getting PT and shots they normally don't get.
I can't believe the team would risk derailing a trade with a possible injury if they have one in the queue so close to the deadline. |

We have a tendency though to play down to our competition.
We need to rattle off a win streak. Preferably a long one.
We are not as bad a team as we have looked, I think, ever since the Sacramento game. |

This is too true. Often times, teammates just dribble a couple times until the clock winds down then passes to Kobe, hoping that he bails them out. This is especially true with Sasha. At least with Devean George, he believes that he can do something, even though he doesn't always come through. _________________ Defense is my business, and business is good! |

Sasha was pathetic against the Blazer's last game...
It really looked like Kobe vs Blazers in Portland last time...
You know what, I like Sasha, hes a 90% free throw shooter, and just a good shooter, and good shooters work in the triangle...
But if you can't do it right now, and in games, what good is he? a project..
We should have sent him to the NBDL, but we dont have anybody else do we?

oh yea, keep an eye out for a player getting un usual minutes...like a starter getting lesser minutes or a bench player getting more minutes. _________________ Pain is temporary, at the end of pain is success... |

Lakers must win tonight, it's at home, and they will be for awhile, if they can push their recored to five games over .500 then they have a good shot at getting to sixth seed, and playing someone easy in the first round. At least the trade deadline hasn't passed yet, so we can still have hope. _________________ LAKERS!

If Kobe comes out playing good defense the rest of the team usually follows...eventually. If Kobe starts lettinghis guy blow by him the rest of them follow that example too and the game sucks. We should be able to tell who came to play in the first quarter. _________________ Hope for the best. Prepare for the worst. |
