SAS has about a 50% hit rate so, yeah, he's right about Durant and wrong about Melo.

Carmelo Anthony’s brief stop with the Houston Rockets is over, league sources tell ESPN. Anthony will part ways with team, although there are no immediate plans to place 10-time All-Star on waivers. Team announcement is expected before Rockets play Golden State tonight.

Let’s give the move a chance, if he regains some of his focus and mentality we will be very very good but if he messes up we simply cut him, everyone thought McGee was a bum but he’s playing like a Top 10 C right now.

He could cost the team some games and momentum before he gets cut. Could also take playing time away from better players. And the games he loses before he gets cut could affect seeding. And when he does get cut, the team could need to adjust and will have to work hard to regain the lost momentum. No thanks.

And what do you mean if he regains focus and mentality? He was in great situations in OKC and Houston and you’re saying he was lazy? What he needs to regain is his youth and we know that’s not happening.

As for McGee, he was the best center the team had and gave the team something it needed. What does Carmelo give this team?

He couldn’t play defense in his prime and now with a fork stuck in his back he’d be an absolute sieve on defense

the Nets are my favorite EC team right now, they share the ball and play very unselfish, they deserve to make the playoffs.. If Melo goes to Brooklyn perhaps he adds some value to that team while they recover from the LeVert injury.

CArmelo's cost to each team in his career:

Nuggets -- $58.3M for 2,775 days = $21,000 / day

Knicks -- $135.7M for 2,404 days $56,447 / day

Thunder -- $26.2M for 297 days = $88,500 / day

Hawks -- $25.5M for 27 days = $944,000 / day

Rockets -- $182,740 for 94 days = $1944 / day

For a measley $1944 / day, they could bring him aboard just to give Beasley somebody to chat with on the end of the bench every night

Either Melo will be like Wade when Wade was with Cleveland last year or be 1 of those vets in recent years who end up making a Impact after getting picked up off the waiver wire, no one is denying that he has attitude issues and team issues, but we have the luxury option of cutting him if someone notices him acting up and causing issues.

Let's sign Wilt too. So what if he's dead? We can always cut him.

Very accurate analogy. Although 19 years dead Wilt is probably still the better bb player.

No - he kills the Net's unselfish style of play and destroys any playoff dreams they had.

It's the oldest play in the book. When demand for a player has vanished, and the phone sits silent, just have someone like SAS start a Laker rumor.

By the way, I thought there was another thread about Melo? One with a poll that's running, oh, say, 180 against to only 14 in favor of signing Melo?

Also - one with quotes from more credible sources than SAS saying the Lakers have zero interest in Carmelo Anthony?

If . . . . there are no plans to cut him . . . . Houston must think there's something for him on the open market to gain in trade.

I don't think we would give up anything for him.

We need the next Carmelo Anthony, not the old Carmelo Anthony.

@ramonashelburne

For those wondering about the Lakers interest, best to stop. They have 15 players on the roster and didn’t bring him in over the summer when they had a chance as well.

This will all come down to what LeBron wants.

If LeBron tells Magic and Rob to get Melo, it will happen.

I believed Magic is too alpha for that. Lebron have the leverage before he signed with us and that’s why KCP got paid too but right now, it’s Magic shot calling. Lebron do have a voice though.
