Good win. Our half court offensive schemes are awful, luckily we have bron to bail us out...but this isn’t sustainable. Luke is doing nothing offensively to help our young players and they are all struggling on that side.

I liked our defensive intensity, lots a active hands and feet and we rebounded well.

Bron is a beast.

Chandler was a whole lottt better then the Orlando game, he caused some problems defensively to the Heat inside the paint and got 11 rebs.

Lebron was outstanding.

Lonzo needs to develop a mid range game ala Derozan. His three pointer is too inconsistent and his layup gets blocked too often. Good energy on defense but still does not know where to go all the time. Lance SHOVED him halfway across the court to cover a guy on the wing instead of allowing him to double cover the PG while leaving a shooter open.

Defenders (Hart with a +22 and Chandler with a +21) and Lebron (+20) performed best. McGee had a rare off game (6 points, 3 boards, 2 assists, and 2 steals) in 24 minutes having a -4. Ball helped out with 6 boards and 7 assists but was 1 for 6 from the floor with only 2 points and a -3.

Kuzma and Ingram scored a lot but were inefficient. Kuzma had 15 points on 12 shots and Ingram had 13 points on 15 shots. KCP scored 19 points on 11 shots (3 of 5 from 3 point land along with 8 for 8 from the free throw line). KCP had a lot of energy on the defensive end.

Lance and Hart defended hard but did not shoot well. Combined for 2 from 11 from the floor.

Defense in the 2nd quarter was a little lax giving up 31 points but the rest of the defensive effort the rest of the game was great.

I'm a little worried that the Lakers are the Cavs part 2. Are they going to require LBJ have these types of games where he scores 30 point and up in order to win? Let's say he only scored 24 points would that have been enough? The team is weak and they definitely need a second top tier player. Ingram, Lonzo are not that good.

Great game from Lebron, when he is shooting well from 3 this team is so much better

Getting really disappointed with BI and Lonzo... BI just has such a hard time getting any sort of clean shot off, and Lonzo's shooting in all aspects (layups, floaters, 3's) is just so far from any regular rotation NBA player

KCP is starting to come alive and I'm liking the energy he is bringing to the team. Hart also played well and is a really solid role player.

Hopefully the young guys keep developing as the season goes on because they are very far away right now

I don't like players that lack aggressiveness and determination. Lonzo looks like he's content on just laying back and passing, he seems fearful of showing his weak skills on the offensive end for fear of being criticized. He was very good at UCLA but I did not like that game against Fox where he just decided to not step up and fight back. Saying that he was not engaged in certain games is bad mark on him, like saying trade me. Which is I think is what Magic and Rob are going to do. If Bonga shows any promise he's gone. I feel bad for him because hes a decent defender and a very intelligent passer, but in the NBA you need to be more.

All these kids are on notice, either you figure out how to optimize your games with Lebron or you are going to be traded. Right now, Lebron can outplay all our other guys by 3 to 4 times their results and apparently without breaking a sweat.

Right now? Trade everyone not named Lebron if it can bring us one or two guys who are capable of playing next to him with balls and heart, while producing at a professional level.

Luke's priority is DEFENSE and they are getting better while hopefully being more consistent

Half court offense schemes efficiency is Luke's secondary priority since he wants pace and pace and pace.

With BI playing positions that he is not comfortable with (at this time - PG and SG), he is learning where to find his spots. Kuzma doesn't have to change much but if his offense is not happening, his defense deficiency makes him a liability. Lonzo is actually rather well on defense but he is learning how to play with a Point Forward like LeBron.

LeBron current numbers are not out of ordinary because he is not struggling and/or have to work very hard to get his points - he is just a master closer.

Something to consider that the Orlando announcers brought up yesterday - LeBron is playing the lowest minutes per game of his entire career so far this season.

BI is a small forward, guard is not his strong suite.

Kuzma needs to learn defense, but he's a good offensive piece. We'll see soon if he develops a complete game.

Lonzo is a very good defender, rebounds, and he does know how to set people up. It looks to me like he needs a sports psychologist to go through this head about scoring. He can shoot the 3, and we've seen him go to the rim on occasion and actually make a shot. He shot 80% free throws in HS. Still, he plays like a chicken in scoring situations.

Hart - off game on offense, very good on defense yesterday. Of the young core players he's the one who's shown no regression with LeBron on the floor, yet Luke keeps him in the second unit. SMH.

KCP - great game against Miami. Both ways.

Chandler and McGee - even if the latter was off, we're winning rebounding wars now. And we're capable of playing good defense again, instead of playing people out of position.

Good game, let's win the next one!

As Lebron said postgame, when tbey play defense they are a good team and when they don’t, they aren’t very good.

There is good offensive talent on the team, issue is outside of Lebron we just don’t know who is going to help him carry the load. As long as the defense is there, the Lakers will survive some of the inconsistency on offense...at least until they figure it out.

LBJ BEAST!!! Kids suck on the road. Good win after that a incredibly disappointing showing in Orlando! Kids suck on the road. Lonzo's offensive game is incredible crap. He can't defend against the PnR either! Neither can BI , Kuz, and Hart. They are pretty good on D straight up but the PnR they play it like 1st graders.

This is what most people are missing. Lebron having monster offensive games is cool and all, but offense has not been the team's main problem. The Lakers score decently enough regardless.

It's when the defense lets us down that they struggle. I mean, we scored more points in the Orlando debacle than we did in the Miami win. The main difference between them is not who scored the points for us, but how many points were scored against us.

That needs to be the main focus going forward.

No doubt. We can just call the Orlando game one of those nights where they just didn’t have it and for whatever reason a building they struggle in. Every franchise has a place they struggle at.

The good news is that the defense is plenty capable. The 3rd quarter defense won them the game. How many 24 second violations...2 or 3 I think.

I’m not concerned about the overall team offense. Any Lebron team tends to be pretty good just by his presence alone. However, Imo they need that secondary scoring to help Lebron close. Ingram and KCP stepped up yesterday, but most of the Lakers struggles closing is because no one outside of Lebron is quite there yet.

It’s pretty clear they are missing that 2nd star, in the meantime they need the young core guys to develop some consistency.

Yeah, a second star would definitely solidify things, but even that must be focused on bringing in a quality defender (i.e., no healthy Boogie next season). But with what we have now, people need to stop focusing on offensive shortcomings so much.

To keep pressing this point, we won 7 of the last 9. In one of the two losses (vs. Orlando), we scored 117 points which is the second highest total during that stretch of games. We won seven of the other eight games because of better defense. In fact, our highest total all season was insane: 142 points. Too bad the Spurs racked up 143 points - no D.

So I remain optimistic about the team's season as they work to improve stopping the other teams from scoring. I'm fine with the offensive output if it stays steady while we wait for more super star assistance.

Agree. Defense is better. Regardless, the team's 'young core' doesn't seem to be progressing as interestingly as the last couple years. Like playing with aging Kobe, hero ball doesn't accelerate developement, I am thinking (maybe I'm wrong and playing with great players is bolstering?) Regardless, it is a bit disheartening to see Randall doing so well and our guys (Ball, BI, Kuz) just remain inconsistent.

Timing more than anything is why Randle is gone. His rookie cobtract ended first, so a decision had to be made (like with Clarkson and Nance) in order to maintain financial flexibility to sign two superstars by the summer of 2019.

Timing ... indeed. It was always a possibility that by 2019 Randle will be a superstar, ok all-star then, himself.
But that way of thinking never seemed to take place in Lakers front office.
