Scroll up.

Ingram has already said he won’t come off the bench.

This is a false misrepresentation of what Ingram said 2 months ago when he was coming back from suspension. It has nothing to do with his current circumstance of him being injured or whether his starting position is in jeopardy at the moment but carry on

What happened that makes you think he has reversed his position on the matter?

Glad I don’t have to make the decision

IF Brandon embraced coming off the bench that’s my vote. If he doesn’t, his value tanks. He could increase his value if he killed it off the bench weirdly enough but it’s a gamble. It’s a hard move to ‘undo’ though so I’m a little wary.

I’ve seen the lineup data but LAL still played well with good defense with him with the starters. I’d keep him with them for as long as Brandon’s a Laker.

I voted for Hart, with the caveat that Bi gets more minutes. BI leading the second unit just sounds right for me

On offense HArt is the better fit but defensively Ingram is a lot better. I get frustrated seeing players go off on HArt sometimes.

I don't think OP is talking about overall talent, which is why BI was #2 and Hart #30.

If we're discussing "fit," then there are arguments in favor of Hart.

In focusing on fit, it's a holistic view.

Ingram is the better fit defensively

Brandon Ingram: 'I'm Not Coming off the Bench'

Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram wasn't shy about discussing the role he expects to play for the team as he comes off his four-game suspension.

"I'm not coming off the bench," Ingram said ahead of Monday's game. "I don't know the lineup, but I know I'll be in it.”

Imagine if Lonzo came out and said “I’m not coming off the bench for Rondo.”

Kuzma, Hart, Lonzo accepted their bench roles for the team’s benefit. Ingram should too if it comes to the team.

May need to add a third option if this Ariza trade goes through. He's been a starter for the last five years.

I'm thinking BI knows both Magic and Luke have his back 100% and will support him having a starting spot over Hart under almost any circumstance.

Ingram is the better fit defensively

Hart is better fit offensively.

Hart is less of a ball stopper and less turnover prone. When you put the ball in the basket and don't turnover the ball, the defense is in a better position to defend.

And the starting lineup has been better defensively with Hart in place of Ingram, at least in terms of Defensive Rating.

Hart also fits better with the first unit, BI can and should run the second unit. Whatever talent he may have is better utilized coming of the bench.

are we sure this wasn't just a factual answer? i.e., he wasn't actually asserting anything he was just stating that he would be starting that night because luke told him he would be or something like that

Hart looks better for the TEAM on both defense and offense

Ingram may have more potential and may be better individually but Hart seems better for the team as a starter

Scroll up.

Ingram has already said he won’t come off the bench.

But it's not his choice.

However, don't think it will happen b/c:

1. institutionally, he's still considered a #2 pick until he signs an extension.
2. the FO has really hyped BI up, and retracting from that to them is would mean being humbled in their assessment.
3. there are trade value questions. What happens if BI doesn't adapt or take his new role well?

it's all about #3. Magic and Rob know he's their best trading chip and unlike Kuzma and Hart who have come in and totally exceeded expectations and look ready to be players on a championship team today, BI has not quite shown that just yet. He's shown potential stardom but when you consider fit and time top get to his peak, BI's trade value is the most important aspect as we approach the summer of an AD trade.

Ingram of course. Magic already said we want to reduce LBJ’s usage.

Let's not kid ourselves into thinking Hart is a starting level player. You can't be that bad defensively unless you are a serious offensive talent. That said, if I had to pick one, Hart is a much better fit with the starting unit. Ideally we can find a trading partner for BI, if he has that much of an issue with coming off the pine. Maybe throw him into the Anthony Davis package lol

Hart, for sure. Ingram is too ball dominant when he's in there, and Hart is by far the better 3-point shooter. I also think he's a better defender, particularly on guards.
