I think Hart is the more complete player and should start. That said, I don't see Ingram wanting to come off the bench.

We already started Ingram earlier in the year and we saw enough of it. We're winning with Hart and Kuz in the lineup so why switch up? Hart is our best 3-pt shooter. He's the perfect fit playing with Lebron. Ingram is perfect for coming off the bench when Lebron is sitting because he's another ball handler.

Ingram will be like Lamar Odom, the best 6th man coming off the bench in our championship pursuit.

It’s not a matter of should with the Lakers. The Lakers need Ingram to start and to play well with Lebron. If Ingram plays well he could either pop and become a star or he raises his trade value. Luke will continue to try and stager Ingram’s minutes with Lebron’s, but there are different reasons why it’s important for him to play well with Lebron as well.

The main objective is to win a championship. Not building a player's value or developing anyone. Luke's main objective is to give the team the best chance to win. If he thinks BI gives them a better chance to win and changes the lineup, then so be it. We've already seen plenty of BI with Lebron early in the season, though.

Luke had no problem benching DLO/Jules/JC/Nance/Lonzo/Kuz when he felt it was necessary. BI started his career off the bench but now it seems it's not even debatable whether they should try and see if it would help him run a LBJ-less 2nd unit.

Hart is the better 3 point shooter but Ingram is the better defender. It was embarrassing seeing a Heat big spin and blow by Hart last night. So do you think we aren’t scoring enough or need to rely on defense?

Reiterating but Ingram coming off the bench is not going to happen at least not anytime soon. Just a month ago Ingram already said:

Quote:
Brandon Ingram: 'I'm Not Coming off the Bench'

Los Angeles Lakers forward Brandon Ingram wasn't shy about discussing the role he expects to play for the team as he comes off his four-game suspension.

"I'm not coming off the bench," Ingram said ahead of Monday's game. "I don't know the lineup, but I know I'll be in it.”

His opinion may have changed. Even if it hasn’t, his happiness should be secondary to team success just like every other person not named LeBron on the team.

^and why does it matter what ingram thinks? why would we sacrifice winning to please a third year player who clearly isn't the best fit?

But it's not his choice.

However, don't think it will happen b/c:

1. institutionally, he's still considered a #2 pick until he signs an extension.
2. the FO has really hyped BI up, and retracting from that to them is would mean being humbled in their assessment.
3. there are trade value questions. What happens if BI doesn't adapt or take his new role well?

I’m not saying it should matter.

I’m just saying, it’s a reasonable question to ask. You seem to think it is unreasonable to discuss it, and I don’t agree.

I anticipate this thread turning into a civil, fact based, even tempered debate.

Hart is a much better fit next to Lebron. That being said, people are going to get hurt or need rest. Once BI comes back id love to see Ball each get a couple of games off, in Mid January we play the Cavs and Bulls, be nice for Lebron to have a week off. Hart seems to get hurt once a month. I think we can manage having 5 starters at 4 positions.

I don't think OP is talking about overall talent, which is why BI was #2 and Hart #30.

If we're discussing "fit," then there are arguments in favor of Hart.

In focusing on fit, it's a holistic view.
