Russell had one year with Byron, and one year with Luke. Near the end of his season with Luke he had one of the best statistical stretches of anyone in his age range, and was one of the few within that age to put up the stats he did, even with his minutes and role being dilly dallied with all season, and being benched for no reason.

That's definitely not long enough to say "he never seemed to improve."
Way too early to have that assumption imo.

And last season he started being that 20/4/5 player we saw him being, but the knee injury messed with him and he never got all the way back.

This season he's been healtheir and seems to be rounding to that point again.

Either way, it was far too early to assume he'd never get better. Particularly considering the numbers he was putting up for someone his age at the time and the flashes of brilliance he'd shown, and consistency he seemed to finally find till Luke benched him after one bad game.

Luke had a tendency to bury DLO in favor for Lou and Clarkson. I still remember numerous games where DLO was in a flow and he (bleep) it up by benching him too early and then putting him in way too late

What about the 4 turnovers? Doesn't bother you?

you think 13 assists and 4 TO's is bad?

The difference is 13 assists is an outlier (he averages a modest 6 per game). The turnovers are not.

so we are talking about outliers now.....take a look at that boxscore, and you may notice a huge one

Change the subject much?

nice try....the conversation originated about Lonzo and Dlo....you have been running around the board all night trying to diminish everything DLo did....as he was doing it....then you throw up 4 TO's as a defense clearly not realizing any team would take 4 TO's to 13 assists every night....then you shift to outliers. Again, the biggest outlier of the night was Ball's scoring....which again was one of the two subjects where the discussion began.

DLo showed out tonight....he was clearly the best guard on the court tonight....just accept it for what it is.

Who had more points? Zo
Who shot a higher FG%? 3PT%? Zo, Zo
Who had more rebounds? Zo
Who had more assists? DLo
Who had more steals+blocks? Zo
Who had more turnovers? DLo

Objectively, no way in hell DLo outplayed Zo. Sure, DLo got the win but it's a team game, can't put that on one player.

Yeah, I used to get pissed when Luke was giving Lou minutes over DLO. Little did we know how down the FO and coaching staff was on DLO and his slacker attitude.

I don't hate DLO... and if we could sign him as a free agent for a good price I'd welcome him.

But I just had to comment that he's as inconsistent as our young guys... so I'm not convinced if we had to pay him that it would be the right decision.

I can agree with those here that he's improved his playmaking... but still not enough to merit a large contract.

If he even went up one or two percent per year... I'd be way more sold on him.

Lonzo Ball when he talked about how great of a backcourt he and D'Angelo Russell were going to be....

Lou was shooting 61% TS when DLO was here.

Can't blame them for giving him a lot of minutes... he was an elite scorer for us.

With how polarizing DLO and Zo are Lakersground would have imploded if they had played in the same backcourt.

True, Lou was clearly better than DLO but we weren't going anywhere so I wanted DLO to get more playing time and to be developed.

Luke benched him because he was not putting the effort in on the defensive end and was not passing the ball. Ingram even made the commend "DLo dont pass the ball". If you Quote best player Unquote is not playing defense why should the other guys?

your support looks like something a 3rd grader would present....so you think that is how it works....Ball had one more point....and Dlo had 10 more assists....but in your little school fair chart....it is 1-1. Really, if you watched that game, and think that Ball had as good of a game as Russell....we do not have anything basketball related to talk about.

Ball was a utility player that hit some shots.....his impact beyond that was less than minimal. Nothing new....Ball can hit a couple 3's and make open dunks....he hit more open shots than normal tonight. Ball cannot create offense for himself....is always reliant on someone else to create shots for him....nor can he create for others in the half court efficiently. Russell ran his team.....he created offense for himself and others....he routinely was getting into the teeth of the defense causing breakdowns.....he controlled the pace of the game on offense.....his impact was huge for the Nets.

The promising sign about a tough loss like this is that no matter how badly they played, they were still always within a shot or two of taking the game over.

That loud Laker following in Brooklyn was coming up huge, getting the momentum going and getting the refs to make some funny home court calls but all of the missed threes and that big scoring drought without LeBron at the beginning of the 4th were killer.

NO ONE runs around the board trying to diminish things more than you dude, and NO ONE shifts to outliers more than you either.
Nice try tho, ask anyone on this board- we can take a poll if you like.
Didn't you get banned for a week for the very thing you're accusing?
Classic.

Lebron was on team swaggy. Fact.

I feel bad for the Nets. Crowd was 60/40 for the Lakers

Bad loss tho. This is the 3rd time this season we’ve disappointed our road crowd.

DLO was on fire the first 6 minutes and hit that big 3, between those times he was awful. 22 points on 21 shots, horrid D that allowed Lonzo to have his best offensive game in a long long time. Zo is better and outplayed him tonight, at the very worst it was a push.

Unfortunately for us, Hart and our bench was ass and was outplayed...so we lost. Dlo is a net negative on the court more often then not, even when he shoots ok.
