Seems like they just called us out are fines and possibly other things coming?

If so, I pray the Lakers fight it.

Lebron did what he did to start a conversation. He was never going to make sustained public recruitment campaigns, not when they both have the same agent and there's much better methods of communicating between the two.

The league sends out a tampering reminder to every NBA team, just as they do every season. It has nothing to do with the Lakers.

What pisses me off is that ESPN asked Lebron point blank if he wanted to play with AD. If the league doesn't want anyone to give an answer to these types of questions then they should threaten ESPN for putting its players on the spot.

If Magic and Lebron keep pushing the envelope, and if the league finally snaps and imposes a draconian sanction (say, banning the Lakers from signing free agents next summer or prohibiting the Lakers from trading for any of the players mentioned by Lebron), there is little or nothing that the Lakers will be able to do about it. Oddly enough, the only party who might be able to challenge the punishment would be the NBPA, though I think they would have a weak case.

Im still at a lost to why Lebron's answer to a sponsoring media outlet's question is created so much buzz. How else could he have answered that question? Hardly a blip in the very gray area of player-to-player tampering rules that the NBA has basically ignored forever.

I suspect this is the 'toxic' environment surrounding LeBron that Durant was referring to - how certain members of the media feed off any controversy they can manufacture out of thin air.

No fines. Just a memo to appease small market teams.

The league wants those questions because they generate interest and they are not going to fine LeBron or the Lakers. It's more money for the league if AD comes here so they'll be happy if it happens even if they have to pretend they are against such a thing.
