Gregg Popovich

Dont think he will retire if the price is right.

Magic and Pelinka could have found there next coach

Yeah the only way I can see Popovich ever coaching for us is if the Spurs management screwed him somehow and he had an axe to grind.

Otherwise he's Spurs for life.

Popovich is 69 years old, he's already the highest paid coach in the NBA, he already has more money than he'll be able to spend for the rest of his life, and he has total power in San Antonio. I can't even imagine what we could offer him that would make him want to come here.

Rick Carlisle?

Some Mavs fans starting to hate him and his contract expires at the end of the year.

Kawhi beef was with SA medical staff/tony parker, not Pop.

I’ve looked for it everywhere, couldn’t find. He got a new contract in July 2016 but they didn’t disclose the terms.

Why are they hating him? I've always thought of him as a solid coach.

Would Lakers fans welcome this Celtic scum as a Lakers head coach?’

We are not getting Pop, and I don't want him. I am fine with Luke as he is growing with the team. The only coach I would want is Jay Wright who is the best coach in all of basketball.

I was just browsing the Mavs subreddit after their loss against us and they were calling him out

He's in a good situation either way. He gets to either coach a special young player into a playoff team or join a contender (us hopefully or someone else) for a shot at another ring.

Not even Pop can make these guys what they're not. And at
69, he has no incentive to continue to coach, unless it's the SAS.

Im pretty sure his only options he is considering is retiring or coaching the Spurs... not a different team
also Pop doesnt strike me as the type of guy to ditch the Spurs to coach a hotter team

My dream coach. I rank him 2nd behind Pop. I don't know how free agency with coaches work but can we go into a bidding war with the Mavs for Carlisle?

Carlisle is under contract for this season and the team has an option for next year. Both of those years will be honored, so the new deal will begin in the 2017-18 season and last through the 2021-22 campaign, Stein reports.

Ah Shucks. For some reason I thought I heard he would expire this year. Thanks for the heads up.

Popovich will never coach another team. If he leaves their bench next season, it's because he's done coaching.

He might consider a front office role with some franchises, but I'm sure the Spurs would offer him one if that's what he wants.

BTW, I wouldn't be surprised if his next move is going into politics.

Yeah I can't see him leaving Miami either. He's a made man there. He'll probably end up in a Riley-esque position after the latter retires.

I thought I read somewhere that his contract was up at the end of this season. If we make a coaching change, he would be right at the top of my list, if he would be open to leaving.

I agree on the plaudits for Jay Wright. If he would be open to the jump to the pros, I would go hard after him.
