Ok.

I'm not an LO jocker.

I'm not an LO hater.

I'm not a Mitch jocker.

I'm not a Mitch hater.

Like many on this board, I'm see both sides of those arguments.

But if the Knicks (as reported here) get KG for Channing Frye and
Penny Hardaway's contract, how can we not throw a fit over Mitch
not bettering that deal?

This is just my opinion of course, but I'd gladly give Devean George
(a hometown hero in Minnesota and comes off the cap next summer),
Andrew Bynum (a piece more valuable in the long-run than Frye) and
another solid piece to put KG and Kobe together in their primes.

I know Minny would rather not deal KG to a WC team like us, and I know
this rumor is quite possibly BS.

But if KG goes to NYK for Frye and cap-room?

Come the funk on!

If the man is on the block, we darned well better be making a SERIOUS
play for him. That's all I'm sayin.

Minnesota won't make that trade. They could get much better than that for KG/

Agreed that they can get better than Frye + Penny's contract.

Still, if it ended up true....

...wouldn't you be ticked that we didn't get him?

Cuz DARNED right we can (and should) offer better

New York's offer is better. Mchale gets to ttade him to an eastern team. They get tons of cap space and a young stud to replace KG. Perfect oppurtunity to rebuild in Minny. If they take out Odom + Bynum deal, their still left with an overpaid Odom for many years.

Wow, has KG's value dropped that fast?
I don't think it will happen.

Maybe its a smokescreen so that Mitch re-ups his offer and puts in Bynum?

Bynum is a better prospect than fry. if the lakers made an offer to minn, perhaps it didn't initially involve bynum. Minn leak this story, la now must add andrew to trump N.Y. offer.

I actually think for the first time the lakers have a shot at KG. This is the first mention of Minn seeking to trade Garnett.

Because it is likely started by the NY tabloids after having a few bong hits with Issaih.

With regards to this rumor:

1/ If it is true, then there is NOTHING that we can do. That is, if KG wants to go to NY, there is nothing that Mitch can do to get KG. The point of this is, don't jump the gun and blame Mitch.

2/ There is NO WAY that Minny will just trade KG for Frye&Penny straight up. Even if KG DESIRES to be in NY, I am sure Minny can get more than this. McHale will lose his job for this deal.

after re-reading that article, the Kenyon martin scenario seems a lot more plausible.

A large contract for someone with a history of injuries like Penny and Houston.

That article makes it sound like KG is fixated on going to NY. Typically, it doesn't say why because any attempt at making that explanation would probably be laughable.

I don't hate the Knicks, but they are a few years of smart cap management from getting their heads above water. And they haven't even started yet.

Ever think that they would want to trade their franchise player out of their conference? That seems to make the most sense to me, unless they can get an incredible deal within the conference.

Agreed. It's hype.

Still, Bynum IS a better long-term prospect than Frye.

And I say that as one of the VERY FEW people on here who actually liked
Frye going into draft day.

That said, alot of it comes down to PR too.

I mean, giving up KG for Frye and cap-space would be a LOT for Wolves
fans to swallow.

Giving him up for, say, DG (hometown and cap-space next summer),
Bynum and LO... would be a good prospect (Bynum) and some semblance
of legit talent (LO) in return for KG.

I've said for a long time that LO is the poor-man's KG (fills the stat sheet
in similar ways, just less in each category) - so at least they could look
ok with their fans if they picked up LO.

I have no problem moving LO + Bynum for KG.

That's 2 of the "Greatest 60" paired together in their primes with Kobe and
KG.

All I'm saying is, if the rumor was TRUE, that I think we could outbid NYK.

Why would KG be fixated on NY? It's still cold, they are even farther away from playoff contention than Minn; it just doesn't make sense, unless he has a thing for wearing the jersey. The press would kill him after the initial honeymoon. Any thoughts on why (if that is the case) he would focus on only the Knicks?

If this were to actually come to fruition (which I believe is VERY unlikely), it would all depend on what the Knicks wanted in terms of whether or not I would be angry with Mitch.

What I mean is, if Minnesota is looking to start from scratch, they will be hard pressed to move an $18 million contract for a $14 million expiring contract and one of the more coveted young big men in the game. That's a little more than $30 million swing in terms of cap space. Sure, we could also offer a coveted big man (Bynum), but if Minnesota wants cap space, we couldn't rival Penny's contract. If that were the case, I believe Odom's contract would be wholly unappealing to Minnesota, considering the length of the deal.

Now, if they're looking for players, we better damn well do better than Frye + Hardaway, but so could a lot of other teams.

Exactly, on top of that who is he going to play with? Stephon Marbury?! That would almost be like saying Snaq wants to come back to L.A. I don't know if I believe it. KG wants to win. WTF could New York possibly have that would lead KG to believe he could pick up a ring there?

KG is already on the record that he would like to play with Stephon again. He did not say where, however.

Minnesota is not going to rush a trade in the middle of the season. KG is a top 5 player in the NBA, they're going to create a bidding war in the Summer and take the best offer. There's no reason for them to trade him now.

Agreed Ziggy.

If Iverson or KG gets moved, there's no reason they'd rush it and common
sense tells ya it'd be this summer when they can go sweepstakes-style
on the whole thing.

I just posted it cuz it was RealGM's front page.

Figured it was worth passing on, even if I don't buy it for a second.
