I'd blame the shoes. Some places do more research than others. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I've said many times, and still consider him untouchable. These past games are reasons why he should be untouchable. I'm honestly curious if anyone else sees the slight bowl leg. |

Much blame is due:
1. Lonzo's shoes didn't give proper ankle-breaking support
2. Lonzo skipping leg day
3. Luke Walton deserves some blame for being awful
4. Magic Johnson deserves blame for not trading Lonzo earlier
5. Trainer Nunez should also be blamed for not training Lonzo properly
6. Those damn NBA referees need to be blamed also
PS only one of the above is true (maybe) |

I've sprained the hell out of both ankles back when I was a youngun...
There's nothing you can do when someone's foot magically appears right at the spot where you are going to step and place all of your weight.
It sucks but it happens. _________________ Lakers. Built different. |

Putting no blame on his shoes is misguided. It definitely played a part in the severity of the injury. I highly doubt the BBB shoes have the latest and best technology for NBA level athletes. |

It's bowlegged or bow-legged. Not bowl. |

Lonzo's high school and college careers were littered with ankle injuries. He missed time at UCLA from three different incidents in his lone campaign there, and was famously limited by one when his tem faced Kentucky in the big dance.
He seems prone to them. He'd tried half a dozen shoe models at UCLA alone. Ongoing conditioning and strengthening of hips/legs/ankles/feet seems an important part of his best plan from here. |

Nah it's not and calling this thread dumb is just rude. There's a valid point about shoe wear and it's impact on athletes which is why companies spend millions and millions trying to improve the benefits of shoes.
Is it the reason for Lonzo getting injured, doubtful but there is an argument to be made that BBB is not built well which could contribute to injury. |

Yes I think these injuries definitely bring up some questions about his training. His dad dismissed it last year by blaming the Lakers staff and saying he never got hurt before he was here but he does have a history of these injuries. |

The problem is that people are obsessed with finding the single perpetrator. In most cases, there are multiple contributors, but that is not a fun of a detective exercise. |

Athletes get their ankles taped. I played ball from the age of 12 to about 21 religiously. Never had a single sprain or any other kind of injury. Others had injuries all the time. It's just luck sometimes. And sometimes some are just injury prone. |

My grandson went through several high ankle sprains in high school, but was told by his college performance coach (volleyball, basketball) to improve his core and leg conditioning programs. That seemed to have solved it for him (no injuries since) and it's three years on now. I have to think Lonzo could be doing more off the court to protect his (presumably) weakened ankles at this point. _________________ “These GOAT discussions are fun distractions while sitting around waiting for the pizza to be served.”
