Missing Playoffs - Free Agent Ramifications

Missing the playoffs or getting swept in the 1st round may have some bad ramifications during the offseason. The Laker's organization is looking worse than the Kobe farewell days were there was so much turmoil, grim outlook. If we miss the playoffs, it may not be an attractive destination. There seems to be a lot of negativity right now with us.

What is Magic going to sell?

Some issues a free agent will have to think about

1) Old Lebron
2) Lavar Ball
3) Luke Walton's system
4) Magic + Rob inexperience in building a good roster
5) The constant media scrutiny

Yeah this is the biggest concern.

Missing the playoffs is a bad, bad look. Injuries are a part of the game, so not going to use that as an excuse.

They failed. Let’s see what Maginka can pull off, but if they don’t get that 2nd Max FA, it’s time to move on imo. The amount of assets wasted to potentially come up empty is unacceptable for any executive.

If anything the media scrutiny will definitely affect players decision.

Team doing well = LeBron carrying them
Team doing poorly = LeBron doesn't have enough help, everyone is (bleep)

I dont see this at all. I think players and agents will definitely see the potential of this team with Lebron. I also think Lebron is ready to pitch himself as the 1B option on offense to players like KD Kyrie and Kawhi.

I do not think it matters. There are still going to be many who want to ride LJ's nuts. He is that powerful.

Two things are facts.

1. A team of playmakers but no scorers or shooters does not work.
2. We can’t wait on the youngsters. BI especially. He can be great but we ain’t got time to wait for that to happen.

If we had a team of mercenaries today that can play reasonable defense and have designated roles with a coach that knows how to use the roles we are in the playoffs today easy.

A team of playmakers with no clear roles, no shooters scorers, and a coach that always seems to trying to figure things out and injuries at the wrong time is why we are where we are.

Give me low is players who know their role and can perform it well over high in player right now.

Overall, the club is staring into the great abyss in the FA market, again. We don't look like one of the league's ten best destinations for a top free agent. Having produced little near-term success, the club will present itself once more as questionable as ever as a landing spot:

- the concerns about playing next to LeBron mimic the types of concerns regarding Kobe here, in his final few years.

- coaching may be undistinguished or uncertain to be retained

- club management looks as if it is still lacking the vision it had in its prime periods

- inter-player chemistry, player development and W-L records stalled once again, due to health of key players brought in to improve the team's play. Once again, it reads like the Nash and Dwight issues, except that LeBron is still more player than either was, but he's missed time.

- the few remaining young high drafted talents (Ingram, Ball) look undistinguished, neither having broken-out as a star on his own nor fit-in next to LeBron.

- remaining young late drafted talents (Hart, Kuzma) look competent, but not all-NBA.

We look like a third tier club right now, and I think it may have to fill up the roster with high priced one year nobodies again. The record must improve to attract a heavyweight, IMO.

With today's athlete, one may like the pride of fixing what even LBJ "couldn't" do. Missing the playoffs would be a big deal, but guys are hard to predict now adays.
