Ignore the record, these teams that shoot from outside are a great matchup for the Lakers because those open shots aren't going to fall.

Preview: Bucks (47-14) at Lakers (30-31)

Lakers +4.5 o/u: 238

Quote:
The Los Angeles Lakers will look to take advantage of a team that's already begun resting key players when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night.

Both teams are coming off hard-fought wins on Wednesday and each will be playing the front end of a back-to-back when the Lakers and Bucks meet for the first time this season.

They will duel in a rematch at Milwaukee on March 19.

Antetokounmpo, who has been bothered by a sore right knee, sat out Milwaukee's trip opener at Chicago on Monday, with Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer explaining that the All-Star captain would have his minutes cut back until further notice.

That was working just fine at Sacramento, with Antetokounmpo playing just 19 minutes while the Bucks were building a 14-point lead midway through the fourth quarter.

But Budenholzer had to put his star back into the game after the Kings had closed to within 10. And even that wasn't enough to prevent Sacramento from catching up and forcing the extra session.

Antetokounmpo returned to the bench for the overtime, playing just two seconds when the Bucks needed to inbound the ball late in the session.

In the end, the Bucks accomplished both goals by winning the game and keeping Antetokounmpo's minutes well below his norm.

"That's right about the number (24) where we wanted to keep him," Budenholzer noted to reporters afterward. "I think he feels good. It's not just about the pain or what he's feeling today. I think it's how are we going to have him healthy, have him fresh, have him feeling good going forward.

"Sometimes you just have to maybe put a little money in the bank. Hopefully he's just going to continue to be on the upswing health-wise."

The Bucks will take a six-game winning streak into Friday's game. Their back-to-back finds them in Salt Lake City to face Utah on Saturday night.

I can't remember much about our meetings with them last year, other than Lonzo becoming the youngest ever to record a triple double. Who was guarding Giannis those two games?

Bait Giannis into shooting 3s and draw him out of the paint on defense by using PnR action to get him to switch onto a PG or SG (preferably guarding Bullock at the 3pt line). If we run all game, we will wear them out and force them to rest key players even more.

That means Luke will do the exact opposite of this.

I agree, sometimes Lakers play up to the competition but I don't think we have much of a chance.

I know that Giannis was minutes-limited last game and also that Middleton left their last game with an apparent injury. We'll see how many minutes each of them plays.

Giannis will get his regardless. Put Kuzma on him. Have Ingram guard Middleton or Bledsoe. He can take them away. No point wasting BI’s energy on Giannis. We don’t need him in foul trouble either. The only problem is I question Kuzma’s defensive IQ to give him space and bait him into jumpers.

Greek Freak has a sore knee? Wow that's not good. Playoffs are not that far away. It would be stupid IMO for them to push minutes at him when rest and a healthier Giannis could be their key to a long playoff run.

I hope, if the Bucks play Giannis at all, it's because the Lakers show up and play ball tonight.

Giannis shot over 40% from deep in February. While baiting is your best bet, you can't leave him all alone. He isn't Ben Simmons. Not even close. There's no way to stop him. Your best bet is he is tired and sore causing him to be restricted. Otherwise, you are screwed. Now you throw in the fact that the Lakers have absolutely no one to stop him? Ingram's scrawny ass won't get it done. Lebron can't guard anyone. Our centers are jokes. Yeah, if Giannis is 100% it's over.

Only way Lakers pull this out is if Bucks have an off night and Lakers actually show up for the first time in who knows how long and by showing up I mean everyone playing defense including Lebron. Which wouldn't shock me because i'm sure the Giannis is the best player in the league gets heard by him. A statement which I believe by the way.
