Can you believe they want to pair Marbury and Francis in the backcourt, have no first round picks until the year 3000, overpaid for Jerome James, have a glut of "me-first" backcourt players, AND have the highest payroll in the NBA. How long before LB quits?
When you look at things in perspective, we're doing OK. Sure we need a 2nd option and a better bench, but all things considered, we can still beat the Knicks! |

Yea but I think people in the eastcoast especially new york have a different mind set when it comes to their teams. I think they could careless about having financial flexibity.I think knick fans are probably jumping up and down with this trade because it brings another big name to their team. _________________ New Orleans Hornets superstar point guard Chris Paul is reportedly headed to the Los Angeles Lakers in a blockbuster trade. |

Yep, the Knicks are screwed for a long time.
Even if some on this board think a "soft cap" is all that matters |

I'd rather Mitch make no deals than a bunch of stupid deals. |

If no deals are available that will make you better, you're better of standing pat.
Sure Isiah makes lots more moves than Mitch (or most GMs in the league).
But what the &#@*$&#$ good is that if each move makes you worse
and leaves you with no draft picks, overpriced players nobody wants, etc? |

Isiah Thomas is a crack head. I'd be willing to bet he has hit the glass wang at least once today.
Compared to Thomas, Mitch is a rocket scientist. _________________ Dumbledore closed his eyes and slowly lowered his head before Kupchak. "Teach me," he whispered. |

I would not want to follow the Knicks, but I've got a lot of respect for their fans after seeing a few games at Madison Square Garden. Like Boston fans, they are a very knowlegeable bunch and fun to watch games with. I heard them complain about play calling, coaching mistakes, players errors, but at the end of the day they were very supportive of their team. I never heard any player called "Garbage", and Isiah being refered to in the manner which Mitch is often put down. Gotta admit that it was refreshing to be around, kinda like the good old days here in Lakerland when we reacted much the same re: the Lakers. We'd complain about Worthys' shot selection, but still show him Laker love. We'd wonder why Byron's shot was off, but still treat him as part of the Laker family. And we'd wonder why Kareem was snarling at everyone on the floor only to figure out he was playing through yet another migraine. We'd be thankful he played and would not chastise him for not being able to just shake it of and start calling him a baby and a waste.
So I wouldn't want to have to follow the Knicks right now, but their fans do bring a certain nostalgia to what things use to be like here in LA....Oh the days.... _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. Yes, he sure can. Over $120 million worth of "deals". Lakers payroll + Clippers payroll < Knicks payroll. I really wish Isiah was the Laker GM. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

Depends -- do you want a GM who will:
(1) seemingly NOT do any expensive moves,
possibly be brilliant in the long run, and
look woefully ineffective in the short run...
OR, a GM who will:
(2) seemingly do EVERY expensive move,
possibly be brilliant in the long run, and
look as though he has front-office Tourette's Syndrome in the short run?

are you guys serious? collecting talent is not a bad move, he got a former all star thats not that far off form for a guy who's done and a role player.
the knicks may suck, but they sure have more tradeable pieces this offseason now. _________________

check out what knicks fans have to say over on their board. pretty funny stuff!
-This is just horrible news.
-Lawd.....Let me get my holy water and pray!
-that's terrible
-This was a very bad deal for the Knicks. Marbs and Steve will never become Isiah and Dumars.
-Does Zeke and LB hate the fans of the knicks??
-I don't see how this trade helps.
-Steve Francis!? You waste pennys contract on a guy who couldve been maybe the worst fit for this team out of any player in the league!!!??? I don't get it.
-For the love of God WHY?!?!?!?
(that's just the first page of the thread so far...)
-New York....Where bad NBA contracts go to die
-there is a feeling like : run away...fast and far.
-We're really gonna get bashed by every sportswriter in America now...
-I guess there isn't drug testing for GMs in the NBA...but this may prove that there is drug testing by GMs.....
-Now that we have Stevie Franchise; we might need to have another basketball on the court.
-Just what we need another loser
-it looks like a complete mess and destined for a tragic end.
-I am swimming in a room full of tears.
-Francis - Talent is there but winning isn't. Why do always sign these type of players ???
-Why is it that when we get someone, no one wants them?
-I must be high...oh how I wish I was high...dam I need to get high....thanks Isiah...you've driven me to cloud my reality...now can you drive me to the corner store for a 40.....
-Marbury and Francis are like Bryant and Iverson minus the talent.
-....aaaannd it's time to take out the hard liquor..
-Just admit Isiah has no plan whatsoever.
-Un - Friggin' - believable. |

Im not saying he should make as many bad moves as the knicks. Im saying what happen to all the suppose trades that were suppose to happen that fell apart or we got out bidded. ex. Curry deal, Magolire deal, and im sure there are others. Mitch got us Kwame
Even though Isiah my make alot of bad trades, at least he's able to complete something. |

So you're saying the exact same thing again.
"at least Isiah gets something done."
You're not getting it.
Sometimes the best move is no move at all.
You talk about Mitch's prior deals that fell through because he got "outbid."
Can he help that?
Would you rather he throw in a couple extra players to make sure the
deal gets done even though it would mean giving far more talent than
we get in return?
There are 30 teams in this league.
We have a roster that has, for the most part, fewer tradeable pieces than
most rosters out there.
If we had a $12M expiring contract like NYK did maybe Mitch could have
found a deal with more ease.
Isiah is a crap GM and everybody knows it.
Is Mitch too inactive? Maybe.
But maybe not.
I don't know.
You don't know.
We have no idea how many or what kind of deals he's tried to make. And
whatever deals he's tried to make may have been outbid by other teams
to where we would have been STUPID (like Isiah) to forget logic and do
whatever it takes to get the deal done. |

True. It depends on the kind of talent you collect though. Collecting allstar calibre talent like Marbury, Francis, Curry and young prospects like Frye and Robinson are good acquisitions. Mo Taylor, Jamal Crawford, Jerome James are just overpaid.
You can't argue that if the Lakers had Francis and Curry and a young player like Frye coming off the bench we would be talking about championships not playoffs. |

Can you say instant contender? |
