Seeing as how backups like Bridgewater and Tyrod Taylor got over $7MM, I think the money is fine. I hear some people saying that Fitzpatrick will mess up Miami's tank, but I don't see it that way. Fitzpatrick had a lot of offensive talent around him last season, and I include Todd Monken's coaching in that. He will not have comparable talent in Miami, both from a coaching standpoint and from a player standpoint.
Perhaps the idea will be to flip him before the deadline for a mid-round pick, if a team suffers an injury or if a team is simply looking to solidify its backup QB spot. |

is Fitzpatrick viewed as Game 1 starter? Game 8 starter? Game 16 starter? |

He may win them a game that they shouldn't have won, but he'll balance it out by losing some games they should have won. That's just the way he rolls.
At this point, the Dolphins have become a cautionary tale for fan bases who get spoiled by always having a good QB. They've been trying to replace Dan Marino for twenty years. There's a Dolphins fan who posts here, and I remember that he used to talk up Tannehill. I can understand the optimism, but in the end Tannehill never could quite get over the jump. |

I actually think Miami is finally doing it the right way. It appears that they are going to commit to tanking and accumulating draft picks, a la Cleveland a few years ago. Something the Redskins would be wise to do, but won't do. |

Burfict joins Raiders
Quote: | The Oakland Raiders have signed Vontaze Burfict to a one-year contract, a day after the veteran linebacker was released by the Cincinnati Bengals.
The deal is worth up to $5 million, according to NFL Network.
With the Raiders, the 28-year-old Burfict will reunite with defensive coordinator Paul Guenther, who held the same role with the Bengals from 2014 to 2017. |

Burfict's done. One of the worst LB's in the league last season. Considering how many concussions he's had, he should just retire rather than continue risking his health (and others, given his history). |

And he's also one of the dirtiest players in recent memory. I have to admit, I never thought I'd see Antonio Brown as Burfict's teammate, and vice versa. |

Definitely agreed. Yeah, the AB angle of this is interesting. That first team meeting will be interesting. |

I do not think he is done....I think he has a couple solid years left if he can remain healthy. |

Definitely a dirty player, Suh. But at least he's still pretty good. I'm not sure that Burfict is that any longer. He was rated as a below-average linebacker by PFF last season. Now, maybe he can get something back if he is fully healthy. No guarantee of that, though, and his next concussion could literally force him out for multiple weeks, if not outright retirement. |

One NFL scout in Morgantown, W.V., just texted that QB Will Grier “put on a show” for NFL Teams in attendance and predicted he’s “a riser.” The WVU QB is expected to meet with at least 10 teams before the draft, including the Giants, Redskins, Chargers, Pats and Saints.

Pass interference now reviewable by NFL officials
Quote: | NFL owners approved a massive philosophical expansion of the league's replay review system Tuesday, bowing to pressure from coaches and fans who were outraged by a missed pass interference call late in January's NFC Championship Game.
For at least the 2019 season, pass interference -- both offensive and defensive -- will be reviewable. They are the first penalties in the history of the league's replay system to be added to the list of approved reviews. And for the first time, coaches will be able to challenge non-calls for pass interference.

ok, so now we are going to allow instant replay for pass interference calls in the NFL in 2019....and everyone seems happy. I see a potential mess. I truly hope they will only overturn the egregious example like we saw in the playoff. As someone who attempted to defend receivers into my early 20's, I can assure you there is defensive and offensive pass interference on nearly every pass play if going strictly by the rule book, and it will easily be seen on replay. |

Seems low risk, high reward. Marshall is trending downward and Crowell has never been much to write home about, but both are capable of big years.

Good pick up. Quinn's box score stats haven't been as flashy as his Pro Bowl years, but he's still a good defensive end. Will take a lot of pressure off of Lawrence.
Quote: | Eagles trade for Jordan Howard. |
Not a bad pick up, although Howard never really replicated the heights of his rookie year. More limited offensively than you'd like from a back. Still, could put up big numbers and a fifth round pick isn't a whole lot.

If all Jordan Howard is for the Eagles is the early down back and goal line, that’s still pretty darn good. |
