Yup. Didn't like that part either. Felt pretty cliche.
Overall, CM was okay. Thought it lacked a proper villain and I didn't like what they did with the Skrulls. I also couldn't get past Ben Mendelsohn's (Talos) accent and casual speech. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

Yes I liked the movie, and thought this song choice was too on the nose.
Captain Marvel is so super powered. Seems like she could 1v1 Thanos. I can't really imagine how they add her to the team to fight Thanos without the infinity gauntlet. Seems OP.
I'm generally less interested in the Superman type heroes because their nigh invulnerability makes them more alien than mortal weirdo characters like Nightcrawler.
My guess is they go back in time before the snap and Carol Danvers gets to take on Thanos with the infinity gauntlet. _________________ Under New Management

It's like we've returned to the old Hollywood studio system except Howard Hawks is now contractually obligated to have Bogart, Bacall, and Ridgely hold a climactic 20 minute battle over the skies of Los Angeles to decide the fate of humankind in every picture. _________________ Under New Management
Politics aside, this movie sucked. Juvenile script, exquisitely bland characters, cringey soundtrack, lackluster casting, no emotional payoff, and more importantly: NO FUN. Samuel L. Jackson was the only one having any. Handing the reigns over to indie hipster writers doesn't always pay off.

I entered this movie expecting the worst, but I actually felt this was one of the better MCU movies by the end. It was definitely better than pretty much every MCU movie but GOTG2, both Avengers and Thor: Raganrok.

I liked it. Brie filled the role better than I expected. I think she accomplished her mission of establishing CM as a force to be reckoned with leading into Endgame.

Went last night and loved it. And guess who was in front of me at concession stand before the movie . . .

I think about 90% of Marvel movies fall into the same category of "Eh" with a few being terrible and a few being really good. I'd say Captain Marvel is firmly in the "eh." _________________ 14-5-3-12
Solid movie. Very predictable but had entertaining moments mostly carried by Samuel L Jackson. Brie was ok not the best choice but she was satisfactory. I really hope they don’t have CM be the one to defeat Thanos. Feige said she will be the strongest Hero so far which to me is kinda lame especially with Thor+Storm breaker

Thor already had his shot to take down Thanos.
He should have gone for the head. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant
I've watched almost all marvel blockbuster movies from the last decade and they're all pretty eh to me, C+ movies (except Iron man and infinity war both A films). This one I found enjoyable in a not-serious way. I do however feel like there wasn't enough character development for her to be the savior in End Game (if that is the case).

I don't think this is true since Thor could have killed Thanos already with one blow. I have seen nothing from Captain Marvel to make me believe she is stronger in the movie (or capable of defeating Thanos), so I would put her power level in the "unknown" category for now. I think Thor will still be stronger in Endgame.

+1
I'd put it right on the average for Marvel. Good if you want to soak up some Girl-power feelgoods right out of Disney's current playbook. Great 80's soundtrack for some nostalgia. Great new sidekick.
Worst Marvel movie I've seen so far. And I think I've seen them all.
I have a hard time taking this seriously when the Ang Lee Hulk movie and Thor: The Dark World exist.
What was wrong with those two?
I think Ang Lee's Hulk was the only "bad" one of the three. And it wasn't really that bad except for the villain. The comic panel cuts were also a bit rough but it was cool to see the Hulk actually be the Hulk.
After re-watching Thor 2, I don't get all the hate. Again, the villain kinda sucks but Loki is great. I guess Kat Dennings trying to be the comic relief gets old quick. But all the time spent on Asgard was awesome to see.
How many Kree did Captain Marvel kill when she destroyed the ship at the end? Tens? Hundreds? Thousands? Since she would've been familiar with the personnel structure of a Kree warship, did she calculate an acceptable casualty count of her former compatriots before her overwhelming display of force intended to intimidate and deter Ronan?
Did she know which warship Ronan was in? If she did, why not just kill him instead of killing potentially thousands of rank and file military grunts?

Terrible movie. Bad acting and she had way too many bad one liners.
So many cringey moments. They burned through the plot way too fast and too many cliches like the little girl running towards the hero as she flys away.
