If we get the #1 pick by some miracle, we have to keep Zion. Can't trade a prospect like that away. I think if we do get Zion, the team will then use the cap to get a Butler and/or trade for a Beal. I don't know the exact cap numbers right now, but if that happened, I much rather have Lebron, Zion, Beal, Butler plus B.I. than be completely depleted with just AD and Lebron.

If we get a top 4-6 pick, sure they would. Especially if the Celtics low ball after Kyrie leaves, which they will. They will tarde AD to whichever team that makes their team better in return. Too much is made of the fiasco at the deadline.

I have no idea about any of the prospects outside of Zion.

I fully did not expect us to be in the lottery again.

So too much is made about what actually happened compared to someone’s imagination? Draft a player and keep him, people aren’t dying to come here.

I would use the lottery pick for a potential trade for AD. But that means either Lonzo or BI are off the table.

How about we actually keep our lottery pick?

But knowing Magic, Lebron will convince him to trade it for someone like Kevin Love

I hope not.

We focus on Kyrie on a 1yr + option.

AD comes as a free agent 2020...max him and Kyrie.

Keep all our picks.

Wait, what?

Kyrie will get either a 5 year max from the Celtics or a full 4 year max from other teams.

Plus, even if he miraculously signed a 1 year deal, we would only be able to afford 1 of AD or Kyrie, assuming we drop BI or Lonzo in the process too.

Whatever pick we get, I'm sure Magic will package it in his AD trade offer.

They will trade with the Lakers if the Lakers offer them the best offer. It's that simple. Saying "NO isn't trading AD here" is just your opinion, which you often think is fact in these parts.

Impossible to say until we know where our pick is. The only thing I will say is that if by some miracle they get the first pick and then package it in a deal for Davis I am done rooting for this team until everyone in upper management including Jeanie is fired.

Drafting is a strength, and we should bet on our scouts and player development.

It's a free shot at getting talent, and all it requires is proper research and thought process.

And the patience to let them play through the mistakes (on and off the court) that are common to young men their late teens and early 20s.

It is the patience part I fear our FO is lacking.

Oh, there is little patience. Honestly, I feel like we won't even get to see the lottery pick. It'll just be an enticement to the Pels now that it's sunk to the lottery.

If Kyrie is in, for a good return I would trade Lonzo.

I would dump BI too if it will accommodate Brow.

Math guys can chime in any time.

Which is really unfortunate since there is often great value found in those later lottery picks. I would love to see what sort of gem our scouting staff is able to get in that mid-lottery position. We're going to be kicking ourselves if we wind up trading a couple future all-stars for AD (unless AD alone is enough to get us to a championship).

This is a really weak draft. Unless we luck into a top 4 pick or something, it's unlikely to be a game changing prospect. IF (a big if) we miss out on signing a max free agent, I would consider it professional incompetence if Magic DIDN'T offer our pick for AD.

Like it or not (and I realize some here do not like it and would rather see us in the lottery for another 5 years I guess), we have a two year window of high level Lebron and we need a second superstar to complete the plan.

I just did. You cannot do it.

In order to sign AD (with no Kyrie even on the books going into 2020) you'll need to either get rid of BI (21m+ cap hold) or Lonzo/other kids.

That's just to sign AD.

You won't have the 34-35m required to max out Kyrie thereafter.
