that simply is not true....the decisions are Magic's ultimate responsibility.....Rob does the labor to make the moves that Magic approves/desires. The mess that the FO has made is 100% on Magic.

This forum has turned into a Magic Pelinca witch hunt! Now everybody is turning on Magic who is the only one that has been able to put the Lakers on the map again.
I bet most here if presented with the opportunity to trade for a player like AD you would have done the same. The biggest problem is that the NBA and most small market teams hate the Lakers and will use the media to their advantage by twisting and making sure everything gets leaked. This is also one very unlucky team with all the injuries in multiple years. I think Magic and Pelinka have to start over with everything! New training staff, new coach, new coaching staff, and continue with the plan of trying to acquire AD in anyway of form. It's AD that's the future of the Lakers and if LBJ can help us get this guy everything else will fall in place. Maybe LBJ will not win a championship in LA, but what his group can setup in the future is something they can build around for years to come.

The map that Magic has put us on is the worst won-loss record the past 6 seasons map.

Past 6 seasons? What level of disinformation is this?

He probably is better with the CBA and contracts than Magic.

Pelinka should know more of the behind the scenes people throughout the league than Magic does.

fire both

Having Lakers credentials should be a negative at this point. Can we look for a Sean Marks or Michael Zarren or something? Who else are up and comers?

Can't do it. 1 and the only requirement is : they need to know what it means to be a Laker

Sigh

Don’t hold your breath. Jeanie Buss only hire ex-Laker for blind loyalty.

Agreed.
But Magic Johnson is the apotheosis of Lakers exceptionalism. If he fails then maybe Jeanie is forced to confront the reality that being a Laker doesn't mean (bleep).

Or maybe she'll turn to Kobe

Top two candidates

#1 Is exceptionally strong with the CBA, making deals, etc

#2 Is exceptionally strong with player development, talent evaluation, etc

Other people can be brought in to fill needed areas

Should they hire candidate #1 and bring in others to help with development, talent evaluation etc?

Should they hire candidate #2 and bring in others to help with the CBA, making deals, etc?

I just don’t know who is the impatient one. Both?

Magic has a history, even saw stories of how other execs were going to play off his impatience.

Imo both are equal partners in this debacle. Just as we said earlier today...

Our owner hired a terrible President of Basketball Ops, who hired a terrible GM, who also doesn't like our coach. Awesome, we're the Knicks.

The only person that can withstand a complete wipe out is Magic, he is a Laker immortal.

He is truly untouchable, not even Jeanie is safe.

I imagine Rob goes first and then a coup is formed against Jeanie sooner than later, with Magic withstanding the regime change.

Magic wants all the credit, and none of the blame.

If what SAS also said was true about him telling SAS that he really wanted De'Aaron Fox but Jeanie wanted Lonzo Ball. Then that means Magic isn't above throwing Jeanie under to save himself as well which means all the stuff he said to Lonzo's face would have been a bold faced lie.

Again, not liking this 'snake meets shark' approach Magic seems to prefer as an executive of the Lakers.

There were fears that we could become Knicks 2.0

It looks like we are a few miles down that path.

So Pelinka released all of his agents, including Harden, so he could be GM of the Lakers for two seasons?

Magic will be leading the coup, followed by Pelinka and Kobe.
