I don't think I've ever seen so many butterflies...Probably thousands of them today. There are new groups of dozens of them every 10-15 seconds, all flying north. Looking at the news, apparently there is a butterfly migration passing through L.A. with one BILLION butterflies expected to pass through.

Anyone in L.A. county should definitely go outside, and check it out.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing. Here on the Universal lot (which is apparently right in the middle of their path) everyone has been going out to stand around and take the spectacle in.

I just noticed them yesterday when I was driving from West LA to Carson in the afternoon. They were flying past my windshield the entire trip. They say it's due to all the rain we've had recently.

I'm curious whether so many butterflies will start drawing larger predators like birds to feed on them.

Looking out my window and seeing quite a few of them....I suspect a lot of them don't make it up north due to splattering with the windshield of a car....

butterflies dont live more than a week or so anyway. so they will go as far as they can, mate, lay eggs and their juniors will have to take on the next leg of the trip, wash, rinse, repeat until they get north where they are going.
