These statements cannot both be true.....

the second one has Magic's ability to evaluate talent written all over it.

I have basically 0 expectations of this team until there is a significant change in the FO and preferably the ownership. They act like a small-market team without the innovation.

If I could post images on this board I would be that guy raising his eyebrows and blinking his eyes in surprised confusion.

I mean in fairness IQ does not mean you get roster construction or anything.

So Pelinka is the high IQ guy who comes off as a spaced out airhead and Magic is the charismatic guy who is socially awkward and out of touch. This does not inspire confidence heading into the offseason. How many of you, like me, read that sentence about Rob's IQ and thought to yourselves hmm.. really? I didn't know that. We're screwed.

Smart people don’t make bad decisions sometimes?

The hope is that a smart person will learn from, and not repeat, his or her bad decisions.

Beasley played really well for the Knicks the previous season.

Wow not making the shrewd decisions letting Randle and Zu go just for the heck of it. Not retaining a character guy like Lopez and going after a headcase like Beasley. I don’t trust the brains or lack there of behind the Lakers.

If this is true, then they both need to be fired. What the (bleep)? Like that's literally all I can come up with regarding this thought process. Let your #7 draft pick go for nothing to go after Michael Beasley. SMFH.

I don't agree with Ramona at all about the Dlo trade. She's way off with that.

context is key.

randle and beasley are similar players. randle is younger and is more of a bully ball player, beas can shoot better. you didnt see much of that this year because beas got little burn.

remember randle was our starter or 6th man at times. beasley was our 10th man. why? Lebron james sliding to PF or Kuz sliding to PF because bron is holding down the sf spot. bron has also played some 5 this year.

its no room to play JU without a 3(sure he can shoot better now but its still mostly inside ball with Ju. that doesnt mix well with bron. now we know kuz's 3 wasnt all that this year. but it looked like it would be good this season from last. which would spread the floor. beas was supposed to play a Little 5, and thats it. lebron is our new randle.

beasley as randle light with a jumper. was only going to play spot mins, randle would've deserved real mins. but lebron is our superstar randle. no real room for him and ju together. they both love going inside and neither of them have a consistent jumper. beasley can actually shoot a bit and he was only going to play a few mins.

its funny that luke wanted lopez back when he didnt like to post lopez up enough.

Maybe the problem is that Pelinka lacks the needed preparation/training for his position rather than having a low IQ.

Beasley was actually a good, sensible signing compared to Lance. Retaining Brook over Lance would have almost been legit roster (rolling with Only Zo and Do was objectively risky/bad just on paper). Imagine:

Lonzo, Rondo, shooter pg (like Stauskis?)
KCP, Hart, Svi
Ingram, Kuz, Travis Wear
LBJ, Beasley, Wagner
Lopez, Javale, ZU/Bryant

Injuries aside, that is, at least on paper a team composition with balance, supposed play makers AND prerequisite supposed shooters around Lebron...

Idiots running the front office. Gave up our promising front court for Beas, “low IQ” “rental” mcgee, 65yr old chandler, and mike F’n Muscala! We went from tough down low to soft as F*#k!. Constantly getting punk’d.

To be fair, Beasley could have been a decent signing had he not run into the personal tragedy. That isn't to say he was a better option than Brook. But LA had Lopez' full bird rights and they used part of an exception on Beas. It was never mutually exclusive.

I believe some of what Ramona says, but I generally take what she says with a grain of salt because she is too close to people in the organization.

He could be smart, just not aware of putting together a basketball team and running a front office. I might rather Pelinka and Luke Walton work in the front office. I don't know if Magic is gonna be let go, but he needs to be.

●Rob Pelinka has some barriers to pass because people don't like him. Like he was an agent and people don't like agents. One of the first things he did when he got the job was hold meetings with other agents that he used to be competitive with. Agents compete for players and don't have great relationships with each other. A lot of other, well known agents, really wanted that Laker GM job. Rob is super smart, from an IQ level, he's very smart.

~32:30

Bill's right about that [his story about Luke wanting Randle/Brook and Magic ignoring him.] I think I mentioned this earlier and others have as-well.

●The reason they lost Brook was because they wanted Beasley. When they realized they weren't going to have Randle that's when they decided to go get Beasley. They felt that Beasley had a similar skill set to be a small ball 5 as Julius Randle did.

●I think Aaron Mintz was definitely disappointed when DLo was traded but I still think the Lakers did the right thing with the DLo trade, even looking in retrospect. They wouldn't have LeBron James right now if it wasn't for that trade and they even got a pick out of it which became Kyle Kuzma. I don't think DLo would have done as well in Los Angeles, the fresh start really helped him.

●Here's the mistake with what happened with Julius Randle. They lost him for absolutely nothing. They ended up renouncing him. They didn't have to do that. They could have matched the offer. I think the idea was they didn't want someone who didn't want to be here. But too bad, you can't lose your 7th overall pick for nothing. Where it ends up is you lost the guy for nothing. You could have signed and traded him, thus getting something in return, and they didn't do that.

If the Beasley thing is true... we are cooked.

Damn.

I would have laughed did I not find this horribly depressing. Is Magic dumb or does he just not watch basketball? I feel like the only way you'd draw this conclusion is if you didn't know either of them, and just went by how tall they both were.
