Kevin Garnett to the Lakers
Other teams interested: Knicks, Bulls
KG has had that forlorn, "Please God, get me out of here" look on his face for about two years now. All of the rumors are that if and when he gets dealt, he wants to go to New York to ball in the NBA's largest market. Can't really blame him, can you? Is there any doubt that if he was in a larger market since he came into the L we'd be talking about KG in the same breath as some of the all-time greats? Garnett would have been everywhere for the last decade. Unfortunately, after the Knicks made the move for Francis, KG to NYC is unlikely.
We have been hearing, though, that the Lakers are making a late push for Garnett. And by all accounts they'd be crazy to refuse giving up any of their young talent if they have a legit shot at KG (and if we were Kevin McHale, we'd settle for nothing less than Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom). Can you image Garnett and Kobe on the same team? They can ... |

KG is the new GNR "Chinese Democracy" album. We've been hearing forever that he was coming here and for a long time we were excited. But then it never came out and pretty soon you get angry that all the talk never substantiated. Now I'm to the point where I just don't even care. People can say "Yeah, Chinese Democracy (or KG) is coming out (to the Lakers) real soon, it's been confirmed!". I just shrug, move on, and forget it a moment later. It's a fairy tale I've come to accept as part of reality. |

I love Bynum, but you'd have to be mentally insane to not deal him for Garnett. |

Whats wrong with giving up bynum, i do not understand why this board is so in love with him. the kid is just 18, by the time he reaches his 'potential' kobe will be out of his prime |

I agree. And short of Duncan or KG, not sure I'd trade Andew for anyone, but you're talking having 2 legitimate superstars on the team. You're talking a big and a guard. You're talking the basic ingredients for a championship. |

If possible, getting KG for Odom and Bynum would be a steal for us. Let's hope that Dr. Buss and Mitch can pull this off. Remember, Dr. Buss did say we would get to the playoffs this year. I just cant fathom that we won't do anything by the trading deadline. Were at the home stretch now and if KG is serious enough about coming, then he needs to force Minny's hand NOW! I like Bynum as he seems to have a really good upside to him but, to see Kobe and Garnett on the same team would be awesome.
Do it Mitch Now

The reason why people are "in love" with Bynum is because he's a 7-foot tall 18-year-old being taught by one of the greatest of all time who looks like he's got potential to be another in a long line of great Laker centers. I and many others don't want to give up on that idea too soon. A lot of people around here suggest ridiculous trades involving Bynum and the reason so many balk at them, which leads to the "untouchable" tag, is because of unrealized potential. If we were talking 3 years down the road and Bynum was looking like just another big man, then maybe I don't mind giving him up so easily. This early on, though, I don't want to give Bynum up unless I was getting a sure thing in return because no one really knows what he'll turn out to be.
All that being said, I'd do Bynum + Odom for KG. KG is the kind of sure thing I would demand in exchange for Bynum. I'd do it, but I would lose a lot of sleep over it. _________________ Game recognize game, Granddad. - Riley Freeman, The Boondocks |

My feelings exactly. There's a chance Bynum won't even be as good as KG is now. You get a chance at a hall of famer you do it without blinking twice. |

Or maybe we do nothing like always. Expect nothing then you'll be happy with something and won't be disappointed for nothing. |

I mean k.g and the most dominant player in the game.Who care if this roster is flawed, kobe has kept our (bleep) ass roster above.500 all year, u give him k.g, and i assume add a shooter , maybe spree?? But its pipe right now.... |
