mind boggling.

So lets see....was it a problem when her father was running around with barely legal girls who were like 1/3rd his age? And what about the wealthiest CEO in the world who went around sending dick pics to his mistress while cheating on his wife? Not a problem, right? And wasn't Prokhorov busted in France for having a bunch of hookers in his room? And wait, wasn't the CEO of Broadcom, Nicholas Henry, busted for a bunch of drug charges revolving around his sex cave/dungeon? Oh, and wait for it.....don't we have a POTUS who was the CEO of a billion dollar organization who has been paying hookers on the side while he was married? Yeah.

We live in a society that has monetized female beauty but you think we ought to shame her for having taken advantage of that? If I really dug I could find all sorts of ridiculous public behavior by male CEOs, from the merely poor judgement kinds, to, you know, pure evil, destroying the world kind of stuff. But a beautiful woman that took some artistic nudes I'm supposed to disrespect? Get back to us when you find those Jeanie hard core porn vids or something, but until then this is just a weak attempt at slut shaming. There's enough tangible stuff to knock Jeanie on in terms of her job performance, you don't need to take these kinds of shots....

Trade your only All Star level player?

Toughen up Jeannie, maybe take a page from your late father and let the basketball people make the basketball decisions as you are 0 for the playoffs as an owner.

She hasn't made any moves, and she's letting the "basketball people" make basketball decisions such as Javale, Rondo, Beasley, Lance Romance, renouncement of JR, Zubac for crap, etc. $30 million for KCP for two yrs. And we're still heading to the lottery. Dr. Buss knew when to step in, knew when not to, and I hope Jeannie does too.

What's going to save this regime is a 2nd max signing here this summer. Something that Maginka promised, something that Maginka has paved the way for with fervor, as evident by the unnecessary lost of assets, and looking like clowns during the trade deadline. Some of these mind-numbing deals, such as Ivica for Muscala, are simply a result of anxious rookies.

Ultimately, Maginka may deliver a 2nd star, but they are like the Allen Iversons or James Hardens of the front office... inefficient. But nevertheless, get that 2nd star, and you can keep your jobs for a few yrs. Or, until we learn the team is not good enough, and now you're straddled with toxic max contracts. And I'm telling you, that could end up happening. Especially if you need to settle for lower tier max guys. Before you know it, we're on Bron's farewell tour, and you have to rebuild again. I can almost predict what's going to happen. It's the same fears I had when the regime took over and shipped D'Lo away. The question is the same. Why? Why during the Warriors reign? What are you going to win out of this? Moz and Deng deals would be over in the summer of 20'. Why are people so impatient? What may have been a 10 yr drought, can turn into a longer drought by going this Lebron route. The difference is, you get a few playoff appearances with Lebron. Whoopdee doo. 1988-2000, we got nothing, nobody said anything. It was only 6 yrs since the last title, and everyone is up in arms with deadlines and regime takeovers. We may have just made matters worst.

Ahh, that was vent. And I hope I'm wrong. LOL!

Magic traded essentially what could become the next Marc Gasol to Jerry West and the Clippers for less than nothing, just trash allowing the Clippers to clear roster and salary space.

Next they will go crazy to get a 30 y.o. Kemba Walker when they had a 21 year old D'Angelo Russell and spaz out trying to get an almost over the hill Jimmy Butler when they had Julius Randle, who will probably be physically dominating that guy whenever they play from here on out.

Seriously? Did you see how badly he played against elite centers.

This is still a thing?

It was amusing when he was a Laker and people would say he couldn't do it against elite bigs, literally 2 games after he'd have done it against Anthony Davis or Cousins or something.

But now it's even more of a stretch.

Since Zubac's trade to the Clips, his minutes have increased but his productivity has dropped. His rebounding and assists are up. but his others numbers are down - some way down.

He's a good kid and has a place in this league, but those who are calling him the 2nd Coming of Marc Gasol are being fanciful.

As a 24 yr old rookie, Marc did 12 pts 7 boards. And then for his career, he was mainly about 15 pts in his prime, and was never a great rebounder for his size. Marc as the bar is a great goal for Ivica who is only 21. Marc can be a bit overrated. I don't think it's being fanciful at all.

Puker is absolutely the worst of the worst. Total fake news....Just like Kobe would play in Mars before playing for the Lakers...and went on to win 2 more championships. Nice try Puke...keep puking more germs.

Well, actually Kobe said that on the radio, and it was Pluto, not Mars. Bucher was the guy who was betting his house on it.

Kobe went on a 2 hour media tour. He was pretty quiet the rest of the offseason. But Bucher kept repeating all summer that Kobe had played his last game as a Laker and "would never wear a Laker jersey again". Training camp rolled around and Kobe was there.

To be fair, Kobe looked pretty checked out in preseason and the early portion of the 2007 season. I actually think Bucher was reporting things Kobe was telling him directly. Of course, Kobe didn't have control over whether or not he was traded to Pluto.

Nah, Kobe was playing good team ball to start the season, we were like 6th or 7th seed (22-11) with Bynum flourishing, then Bynum blew out his knee. Team stuggled for a few weeks then the Gasol trade went down. The rest is history.

I'm talking about preseason and the first few games of the season. Kobe locked back in fairly early and was fully invested by Christmas when it was clear we were better and Bynum was showing real signs. But in early-to-mid November, he definitely looked like a guy who wanted out.

That's not really how I remember it. I remember him getting boo'd in the first game of the season, and then balling out and getting cheered loudly in the 2nd half. I think it was against Houston, and he hit some clutch shots that game.

That's just because Kobe is never going to not try to win a game he has an opportunity to win. But he wasn't playing with the same energy/tenacity we usually saw from him. And he looked visibly disconnected from his teammates.

But the real point I'm making here is that Bucher wasn't lying like some try to frame it. When he was saying "Kobe will never wear a Lakers jersey again" I believe he was reporting Kobe's desire because obviously Kobe can't trade himself. I can't find the video, but there was a preseason/early 2007 season game where Ric did the postgame interview and Kobe gave him a hug after. Bucher was Kobe's mouthpiece in the media.

I was able to find this video of Kobe messing around with Bucher at the end of a Finals game.

All he is doing is contributing to a team rolling into the playoffs. We can’t have that here, we need Muscala playing 2 minutes in another loss. Defending that trade is idiotic.

Jeannie cannot "unspeak" these words. And to take it a step further, I am willing to bet it's a combination of Phil and Kobe advising her after she sought them out. I also wouldn't rule out there being pressure from other owners asking Jeannie to take back control of the organization. (The owners have not forgotten what LeBron did to ruin the competitive balance of the league. There will be payback at some point and it's going to be ugly.)

Jeannie looks bad in all of this because she leveraged her power to get rid of Mitch and Jim. Nothing wrong with doing so and I don't even have a problem with her handing the franchise over to Magic. The issue is Magic was unprepared for dealing with the ulterior motives of LeBron and Klutch. This is where someone more experienced than Magic would have put their foot down and protected this organization.

This is also why Magic and Pelinka both have to lose their jobs. Not only did they not look after the best interest of the Lakers, they also made Jeannie look incompetent. Whether she is or not is another discussion.

I think Phil is offered the Head Coach job. If he accepts, then Luke, Magic, and Pelinka are gone.

If Phil declines, then he'll be offered the President job and we'll keep Luke while firing Magic and Pelinka.

In either case, LeBron and Klutch lose all of their leverage and will ask for a trade. Jeannie/Phil will oblige.

Sorry, but I agree with the OP here.

Look, I love beautiful women and Jeannie's pics in playboy were those of a beautiful woman in her prime.

But to use it as your Twitter picture when you are the owner of the premier franchise in the NBA?

It isn't that she doesn't have the "right" to use whatever photo she wants, but it does show very questionable judgement in my opinion considering her position.

I won't even get into the fact that photo is probably 25 years old, that is simply a vanity thing.

But wouldn't she be better off in a photo with a stylish professional look considering she is owner and CEO of the Los Angeles Lakers?

Disagree, Lanny. I think she knows the image that she's conveying there (whatever that is in her own mind) and she's not only comfortable with it, but it's the image that she wants to portray. She doesn't wanna wear a business suit. It actually is that she has the right to portray herself however she wants, with or without the public's approval. That's control in the Janet Jackson sense. We men try to dictate what a grown woman should or shouldn't be wearing or doing. A woman in power doesn't wanna hear that and will do whatever she wants, just as a man would. Mark Cuban wears and says whatever he wants and he's her equal.

I'm actually willing to bet that Zubac will be a better and more productive center over the next 5-10 years than Anthony Davis will be.

Magic traded essentially what could become the next Marc Gasol to Jerry West and the Clippers for less than nothing, just trash allowing the Clippers to clear roster and salary space.

Next they will go crazy to get a 30 y.o. Kemba Walker when they had a 21 year old D'Angelo Russell and spaz out trying to get an almost over the hill Jimmy Butler when they had Julius Randle, who will probably be physically dominating that guy whenever they play from here on out.

and people wonder why Lakers fans are toxic

And he's got a Smush-related nym. That's much worse than a Jeanie semi-nude avvy.

mind boggling.

Jeff Bezos is the founder and CEO of Amazon. He built that company from scratch. It wasn't handed down to him through a rich father. That comparison is laughable. He obviously showed poor judgement in his personal life, but, can you claim he's not qualified professionally? Nichlas Henry is a co-founder of Broadcom. If he committed a crime, it doesn't take away from his accomplishments. They can have a lousy personal life, but, no one can question their competency in creating and managing billion dollar companies. Jeannie Buss has shown nothing .... POTUS inherited 200M from his father, which is why most people don't put him in the same category of those CEOs you quoted before.

oh, and when Jeannie Buss delivers success, and clearly being a lottery team for many years prove she hasn't , then she can certainly date 18 year olds, text nude pictures of herself, visit as many massage parlors as she wishes and smoke as much pot as she can.

This is such a bad analysis on multiple levels. First, what does it matter if you started a company or inherited it? Where you are now is all that matters. Second, you talk like Jeanie has been sitting on a couch for 30 plus years doing nothing. Her dad put her through business school to run operations, and she knows the ins and outs of the Lakers business more than anybody else on the planet. Third, she is not, and never was a basketball guru, nor does she try to be, so it doesn't make sense to judge her based on our basketball success, but more so on our value in building and maintaining the Lakers business interests. Obviously it's her job to delegate and put the best people in charge of improving the team, and the first step was getting rid of a failing FO that was taking us nowhere. That's a good ownership decision. The jury is still out on Magic and Rob, but they are both great hires for their respective roles. I'm willing to give them more than 2 years to judge not only Magic and Rob, but Jeanie's decision in hiring them.

At times, I wonder if the front office are all brainless. Each is worse than the other. Magic. Palenka. And Jeanie.

I used to make fun of Jim Buss for his mullet and baseball cap. In the name of consistency I'd have to agree with Lanny. It's not how I'd want the leader of my organization to present him or herself. Sure, it's her right to do so. It's also our right to have an opinion. I consider twitter sort of a gray area because I never use that site or any social media for that matter. At least in public she does seem pretty buttoned up and classy.

He is. The reason it's tough to admit for a lot is because he only has 1 season as a Laker. But we shouldn't forget everything he's done with Cleveland and Miami. Despite the fact that he isn't really a Laker guy, he's the greatest player ever. And we really should be appreciative of that.

Dream scenario:
Kyrie sign-and-trade to LA for Lebron.

Lebron goes to a storied franchise, and back to the east. They trade their kids for AD. The league ratings go up again because Lebron returns east. Giannis takes the crown from Lebron, the Celtics never win a title.

We sign Durant this summer and fill out the rest of our roster intelligently.
