The Yankees have hit 33 Home Runs vs Baltimore this season as of May 22nd.

That is a record for one team vs another at this point of the season.

Thoughts?

I saw a couple items of trivia that would have been unthinkable when I was a kid.

Joey Gallo is the first player in major league history to hit 100 home runs before hitting 100 singles. As I write this, he has 103 home runs but is still looking for that elusive 100th single.

Mike Fiers now has two career no-hitters. He also has two career complete games.

probably should put an asterisk on the latest...it was against the 2019 Reds, and I am pretty sure I could no hit them through a couple innings some nights.

You’d get the sound of . . . crickets.

It was a great catch. I’ve tried to figure out cricket, but it seems like a sport that is determined to be incomprehensible to Americans.

I just recently got a quick lesson on the sport....I could imagine liking the sport as played by college clubs which is a shorter version....but those international matches that can last for days seem a little extreme.

Cards sweep the Cubs. If the only wins they have in a season is every Cub game then it will have been a great season.

The Orioles select Adley Rutschman, a Catcher from Oregon State as the #1 pick in the 2019 MLB draft.

Having many cousins and considering London is my second home, I've been forced to watched many a cricket matches. Man, they are boring!

But, over time, as I started it started to make more sense, I did gain a sense of appreciation of it.

It's pretty much the same correlation to my American friends who just can't stand baseball for thinking it's boring. If it's a sport we grew up watching, then we'd all love it, I'm sure.

My thoughts are that the Yankees have a lot of power hitters and the Orioles suck.

The Twins are on some nutty home run pace too....American League seems to have a lot of pitchers serving meatballs for dinner if you smell what is cooking!

did not want to create a new thread....but congratulations to the UCLA Women's Softball team for winning the Women's College World Series! Oklahoma had been #1 most of the year as far as I can recall, and UCLA beat them in the first two games of a 3 game series.

Kimbrel found a team willing to gamble on him. Keuchel didn’t. I feel a little sorry for Keuchel. He’s a good guy, and he gave us some decent years (especially the Cy Young season, of course). But he’s really a mid-rotation guy who had a great season, not a staff ace. The market just told him that he overvalued himself. That’s got to be a bitter pill. He just lost $4.9M compared to the qualifying offer from the Astros.

The Cubs are gambling that Kimbrel will bounce back after stinking up Boston in the second half of last season. I don’t know about that. Closers tend to walk a tightrope. When they start to lose their balance, they can become a liability. We’ll see whether the Cubs did a better job of assessing Kimbrel than they did with Darvish.

I still wish my Reds took a chance on Keuchel for a couple years. Rumors were his medicals were filled with red flags.

He was shot in the leg. Hopefully he'll be okay. The guy who tried to rob him and shot him was nabbed by bystanders who proceeded to beat him up.

I saw the Ortiz thread first and posted there. Apparently he was actually shot through the back and then the bullet came through his abdomen. Just a very scary thing, though thank goodness he's apparently in stable condition after surgery and his brother said he thinks he's going to be OK.
