That's so dumb [to have fan voting]. Isn't that the point of the all star game? By having fans involved in this award it makes it far less important IMO.

Makes it outright meaningless, for me.

I agree....fans have no business in voting for the All Pro team.....guessing the team is basically Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs and Cardinals.

Right-hander Kyle Gibson and the Texas Rangers are in agreement on a three-year, $30 million deal, sources tell ESPN.

It’s the first move in what’s expected to be a very busy winter for the Rangers as they head into their new stadium. They need pitching. Gibson is first step.

The Padres have been busy today, also signing LHP Drew Pomeranz to a 4-year deal. He was lights out after being shifted to the bullpen, and obviously the Padres are hoping that his bullpen success wasn't a mirage.

The Reds have signed Mike Moustakas to a 4-year deal for $64MM, and he will play second base for them.

Marlins acquire Jonathan Villar and Jesus Aguilar. Padres acquire Jurickson Profar. And there are tons of non-tender players out there who could help ballclubs. Some of these guys: Blake Treinen, Domingo Santana, Kevin Gausman, Cesar Hernandez, Maikel Franco, Kevin Pillar, Taijuan Walker, Steven Souza, Tim Beckham, Junior Guerra, Alex Claudio, Jimmy Nelson, and even Addison Russell.

Well this would be an interesting landing spot, as you would think that the Rangers would have to throw stupid money at Rendon to get him to sign...

Several executives during the GM meetings insisted that the Texas #Rangers are the favorites to land free-agent third baseman Anthony Rendon, and on Sunday, he met for the first time with the Rangers' contingent in his hometown of Houston, per @Evan_P_Grant

not crazy about the signing, but it does make us better and weakens the Brewers even more in theory....so a slight win in my opinion.

Several club executives believe that with the high-stakes bidding involving free-agent Zack Wheeler, he could ultimately receive a five-year contract exceeding $110 million with one saying that a six-year deal could even be possible.

No wonder Kenta Maeda wants a new contract or traded. He's severely underpaid.

If Hamels can get $18M a year, surely Ryu can get $25M

a lot depends on years....how many years does Ryu expect? I think I saw one projection for him being $40 Million over 2 years.

2 yrs $40M seem such a better deal than 1 yr $18M for Hamels.

Reds are among teams with interest in Madison Bumgarner. Manager David Bell was in #SFGiants front office. Braves, Twins, Angels, Padres, Yankees and Phillies are other logical possibilities. @Feinsand says deal could come soon.

I'm now imagining him trying to win an ALDS against the Yankees playing in the 3 deciding games.

Boy, Pham must be difficult to deal with behind the scenes. Seems like a clear edge in talent going to the Padres here, if this deal gets completed. Pham can do it all, when he's healthy.

The #Rays are in serious discussions with the #Padres on a trade that would send outfielder Tommy Pham and a prospect to San Diego for outfielder Hunter Renfroe and Class A shortstop Xavier Edwards, sources tell The Athletic.

I do not understand that trade at all? Why would Tampa do that deal?

From their end, Renfroe has four years of team control left, while Pham (clearly the better player) has only two. Also, apparently they like the prospect in question, Edwards. He was the #38 overall pick in the '18 Draft. I'm guessing it was a combination of Pham being difficult to deal with behind the scenes, some durability questions, saving money and gaining more years of team control on a player, and getting what they feel is a valuable prospect.

I totally get it for San Diego. GM AJ Preller is on the hot seat and probably has to produce a winner next season, and they just clearly got the better player, and at least he isn't a rental.
