last time we went there was with a tour group, big mistake, never gotten the chance to really explorer the city. this time we're going back for 6 day self guided tour. have some questions:
1. where in tokyo should we book our hotel which is close to most of the attractions?
2. public transportation in tokyo looks intimidating with so many trains, subways, light rails, etc. what type of the pass we can get that allows us to ride on any of them? and how much for a week long pass?
3. for a 6 day trip, anyone has a good itinerary i can use as reference? |

I've stayed in Ginza before, smaller hotel, cheaper
The subways gets you everywhere

6 days is a ton of time for just tokyo unless you really love the city
i don't know if this is still true but when i visited in 2010 i was able to purchase a JR pass at the foreigner's rate (about 50% off) which gave me access to the countrywide JR rail + the regional and some local lines _________________ "All wars are civil wars, because all men are brothers."

If you up for it, I had crazy live fish sushi (but the head still moving), Fugu (did feel tingling on lips but the waiter said it was farm raised, not real fugu), live frog (couldn't do it) and the craziest one, sashimi chicken (bring cipro from the states tho, just in case)
Got up at 4 to go to Tsukiji, it was great to see the auction. I hear the new fish market is even bigger
Local baseball game was great too (forgot if it was Tokyo or Hiroshima or in Osaka). They have a song/chant for every player
The little yakitori joints, get drunk there, fun
Surprisingly didn't do karaoke
Japan is fun |

All I can suggest is going to TeamLab Borderless, eat some of the best food globally, checkout a sumo match at Ryogoku kokugikan, all the amazing museums, have a drink in the golden gai area, and tsukiji fish market. _________________ Music is my medicine |
