Worst (bleep) interview ever.

all that waiting for some trade action, followed by hope for some tidbit of worthwhile information from one of the Laker representatives.

Dave Smith played softball. More concerned kissing #$^ than getting fans some real info.

Why the hell is Rambis even on the bench? James Worthy would make a much better assistant coach.

And some people don't worry about the state of the Lakers' FO?

Dave - well done - MAN did they TOTALLY avoid that question. To me that's a huge step forward - I didn't write that story from nowhere - with Salary Cap Guru Larry Coon's help - we've gotten the word from a director of player personnel (not with the Lakers) to look it up.

Eventually it will come out - they hope no one will remember because it's 1 1/2 years away - but they don't realize how savvy the Laker fanbase really is.

..Any voice of criticism...and she points to 81...and Kobe redefining greatness. She's done this before...and is doing it again today. They must thank their stars for Kobe...w/ out him, they wouldn't have anything to hide their incompetence behind.

Dave should call up John Black, follow up on Kurt and the info in his office... keep after it. Don't let them side step the Kwame issue.

Well, if you want to say it like that I could counter with

- They can trade Kobe in 2003 or 2004 and keep Shaq.

The team would have been much better. We would be the Miami Heat right now or somewhere around that .600-.650 level.

When the Lakers traded Shaq - they did so knowing that contendership went with with him and re-building was the current state.

That being said, I am also very unsettled with yet another year of no deadline moves (7 straight now?)

Where do these callers come from?

Besides the first few callers, everyone sounds like they work at McDonald's

One thing is certain: The Laker PR machine has lost touch. A strong PR group would have instructed the talking heads to tell the truth. Feigning ignorance over something like Kwame's option (they do know the answer) erodes the relationship between the franchise and the fan base.

And you base this on what? Your extensive background and basketball expertise? Or just because you don't like his interviews?

Aside from the Kwame sidestep, which was obviously just admitting they DID pick it up, this has been completely useless.

Because I don't like his interviews. Problem? That's my opinion.

Judging from many opinions I read on the various message boards (incl. this one)... I'd say they're all members of those same sites.

This is based on his work on the bench, he's not a good teacher like Kareem is... he doesn't work good with a big man.. and it makes it worse when we have to hear his crappy excuses on the radio everyday..

Yeah okay, Jeanie.
Stick to screwing around with 80 year old men and leave basketball operations to men.

What exactly are you trying to counter? Kobe and his greatness allows them to dodge tough questions. That's all I said. Callers ask about how they are let down and wish they'd make improvements...and it's "Kobe scored 81, don't miss out on his brilliance!" Rebuild, by all means - But don't treat your fanbase like morons i.e. the deflections regarding Browns 3rd year.

Just wondering if someone knows the exact value of the cap limit (approx) in 07-08?

If it's in the 50's - even with Bynum. Kwame, Odom and Bryant - wouldn't they have some significant space?

Wouldn't the objective be to make a sign and trade in 2007 summer - wit the threat that we will sign your current RFA in 2008?

So all we basically need in 2007 summer is enough room to absorb a potential BYC issue ...

Please, Correct me if I'm wrong cap experts

But she did focus on Kobe's greatness instead.

Imagine this team without Kobe.
I mean not without a star completely, but with someone like Tracy McGrady.

What would they have to talk about to focus on positives?
