That's right. I went to four Summer League games, and most he didn't play in, but he was exactly like that in those games.
He wants to win, and he's completely into the team winning. I think it's great. I was afraid once he got on the big team he'd be too cool to show his enthusiasm, but he's not. That same spirit translates out on the court too, and I hope he gets a chance soon in some meaningful minutes to show it. He can inspire a team. |

Sometimes when I read JD or other mod's posts about how users ought not attack each other with personal insults, I think how could a group of people organized soley by their love of the greatest basketball team in history degenerate to insulting each other?
Then someone makes a thread like this, and I wonder what's the mods problem with not allowing us personal attacks? |

This is one of the pettiest complaints I've ever read about a player. Worthless topic. |

You need to leave Rony alone. When you come back from a life threatening condition to play a game for living then you'll realize how privileged you are. |

I am new to this site but have visited frequently the past year and a half. When I saw this post I thought something had happened to Turiaf, but am I glad it was just someone's opinion on Ronny's energy.
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and have followed Ronny and the Zags for awhile now. If you don't like what Turiaf does after each basket I suggest you don't watch. He's been doing that since college and I have seen him just as animated when a sophomore at Gonzaga scored in a meaningless game or Kobe scores against the Blazers. He lets everyone see his emotion and like everyone else has already stated, he is just happy to be back playing. I'd rather have a guy like Ronny on the Laker bench than some all-star who has no desire or emotion for the game. |

I can just imagine the things players would say (ahem, got this from the brush back):

Oh, please...
Do you even REMEMBER he had open-heart surgery barely 8 months ago?
And on top of it, fine, he's a rookie, whatever. If he was just being an excited rookie with a bad case of Madsen-itis, fine, he'll get over it in a year or so.
But the guy had his chest cut open last summer, had muscles and tissue at the base of his heart repaired, had his chest stitched back together, THEN had to work himself back into enough shape to even climb a flight of stairs, let alone run up and down court in a full NBA practice, to say nothing of 3-4 minutes of an actual NBA game.
If the kid wants to be a hyper-excited towel waver on the bench, pouring his guts and emotion into a game he thought he'd never get to play again unless Wilt picked him for his team up in heaven, I'm more than willing to give him a couple of years to do so.
STOP BLASTING RONNY.

The only thing wrong with Ronny is he's on the bench.
I guarantee you his "concentration level" will be high every game! |

You sir (thread starter) are a moron, and should not be able to start a thread for the rest of the year. I dont wanna go and reitterate what everyone else is saying, but jeez man... have some class. The guy has more heart than anyone on that bench. |

Leave Ronny alone, man! |
It is an honor to play for the Lakers. Let alone the guy is coming back from open heart surgery. I would jump every time a teammate have the ball. By the way, it is a good way to keep your body warm up. Ready when time to come in and play. |

you know.. at first i thought it was kind of lame too..
but then i started to think.. to this guy, every breath that he takes is like a game winning 3 pointer. every play he witnesses, every minute that he's out on the court.. that's a blessing for him.
if i were to go through the adversity that he's been through.. the highs of being drafted, to the lows of dropping 30lbs after a rough heart surgery.. let's face it, ANYTIME you open up the chest, there's a decent chance that you won't ever wake up.. for him to have gone through all that.. and still be alive today, and to donn a lakers jersey..
wouldn't you be that ecstatic after every play? damn. |

I agree with the guy that started the thread. These guys (including Ronny) are paid professionals, not Laker Girls. We have cheerleaders for a reason. Ronny looks like a bafoon celebrating every single decent play like he just won a gold medal. |
