Yup, even beyond this first (astounding) result, there's also the technology behind it. You've seen the telescope arrays where they arrange individual radio telescopes in a way that makes it function like a single telescope with one enormous mirror. This is extrapolating that technology to create a scope that's effectively the size of the Earth. |

funniest to me is the thought that the calculation took so much data that they had to fly hard disks over on a plane instead of using the internet, because the internet was too slow for the amount of data they needed
