Met him briefly after a talk not too long ago, which was a lifelong dream. The dude has a quiet fire in him. He's the embodiment of wisdom through experience, grace, charisma, confidence, and the right touch of self-deprecating humor and humility - and he has that fire still burning.
One of the greatest sportsmen who ever lived, one of the truly great Americans in our nation's history, an inspiration to black folks here and the world over, and a darn talented, insightful writer, which he seems most proud of these days. May that fire keep burning in that angular frame of his for decades to come.
