Anybody watching Jett? It's about a female thief fresh out of jail who's coerced into getting back into the game. She plans the jobs. I watched the first two episodes. Got my interest. Giancarlo Esposito, Gustavo Fring from Better Call Saul, has a role as a gangster. If it catches on maybe it'll warrant a thread of its own.

GIVE A LOOK

Watched the first episode the other night I was kinda on the fence for the first part and leaning to out because of the some of the writing and dialogue seemed a little hokey and forced, but then the tall white dude hitman said, "I said the word 'personally' twice and the same sentence and it really sounded stupid" and it kinda redeemed itself. Gonna watch episode two tonight and see if I'm still in.

If that is the case, I hope you didn't watch Thirteen a few years back.

Dark is a complicated scifi, that is rewarding if you can keep track of the characters. I'm gonna rewatch season 1 and then watch season 2.

If you are going to watch Dark. Keep this handy:

You'll thank me later.

woah lol yeah that looks like it will come in super handy, thank you.

You are talking about Carmen from the L Word, who was hard to dislike.

(Since I had already lost my guy-card years earlier, I had it permanently revoked when I caught a late night episode of the premiere, which was the beginning of broadcasting the entire series start to finish. I ended up watching the whole series in something like a week.)

I thought you were speaking in code....I was looking through her IMDB to try to figure it out when she played a Carmen...the looked at the series, and it was not code....was titled The L Word. I was unfamiliar with the series.

I got lazy and did not emphasize the title. It was a series about a bunch of crazy and interesting LGBTQIAWXYZ gals, mostly L, set in LA, often at a Hollywood coffee shop, centered on a lesbian power couple struggling with their relationship, as do most of us.

loved the first episode of Euphoria; Big Little Lies is off to a slow start IMO though Streep's character is great

Watched episode 1 City On A Hill. Good start. Kevin Bacon plays a interesting character. I'm in.

Query; Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are executive producers. Do executive producer have the real power?

They are usually the show runners, Stars, and/or creators of the show, and typically have a large stake in its management.

Executive Producer is one of those titles that can mean everything or nothing. As you point out it applies to the top show runners who call all the shots, but it can also be just a title for title’s sake. Particularly in television. There are lots of EPs who don’t really have much (or any) say in the show. Often they are people who were associated with the early stages of development, but once the project moves forward they have little to do with the show. Sometimes big names lend their name to a show to give it traction while the show is being shopped to networks and are associated with the show in name only. People have been fired from shows in the early stages, but contractually retain their EP titles for the entire run of the show.

Along those lines, interestingly enough I worked on a show where the pilot and second episode where shot and edited and it was decided that it all had to be reworked. Half the material was cut out and the show was rewritten to cut out a storyline that involved one of the stars. Since he was contractually a star of the show for the first season, his name appeared in the opening credits even though he never actually appeared in the show.

I kinda thought Fifty Cents wasn't written out of Power because he was an executive producer and he was calling the shots.

One show that I have not seen mentioned that I enjoy is Yellowstone with Kevin Costner on Paramount Network. It is one of the better shows on basic cable in my opinion.
