Doesn't Kobe average around 21pts on 41% shooting against Artest?

When Odom played for the Heat, and was in a playoff series against Indiana, he scored on Artest at will. I have the tape of the elimination game of that series and Odom was scoring on Artest at will in the post. I remember thinking, no one on Indiana can stop Odom, not even Artest. I have a feeing that Odom will raise his game for the rest of the season to show everyone that he deserves to be here.

Well, the last couple of teams who have been guarding Kobe have triple teamed him, hence his relatively human 30 ppg in February. If Sacramento is ballsy enough to let Artest play Kobe one-on-one, then maybe Kobe will be able to shake loose and finally hit 35? Seems like he hasn't broken out in a while.

Historically though, Artest has done pretty well against Kobe.

Boy, am I regretting that we didn't do the Odom for Artest deal too. That would have nabbed us Jeff Foster as well, IIRC.

According to Indy_dave, I believe the deal was Lamar and Slava for Artest and Croshere. He said Indiana inquired about Bynum but were quickly shot down.

I hope Kobe lights up Artest for 40...& we get a win. Of course, if Kobe only gets 20, and we win, I'll take it.

36 points, 10 assists, and 6 rebounds on 14-27 shooting.

I guess Ron came CLOSE. He must feel proud for holding Kobe in the mid thirties. lmao

Actually, that was Kenny's argument on the post-game show on TNT. He said if not for Ron, Kobe goes for 40+. While true, let's not forget what Ron said he was going to do. And holding the league's leading scorer to his season average isn't exactly something to get excited about.

More like if not for some silly ticky tack fouls Kobe goes for 40+.

Kobe shot over 50%. To imply anyone had any adverse effect on his game seems ridiculous.

Ron may claim that he can hold other 20+ ppg guys down. But Kobe ain't other 20+ ppg guys. He's Kobe.

Javie did better job holding Kobe under 40. Him and Phil sitting Kobe down with 3 to play, though I didn't mind it.

They asked Ron about the game and he proudly said he held Kobe under his career high of 81.

Hmmm...

Kobe shoots 14-27, gets THIRTY-SIX POINTS, AND passes for 10 assists, i.e. TWENTY MORE.

Artest shoots, what, 6 for 17?

NEXT!

Not likely; if the other guys didn't contribute as well as they did, then we would have seen Kobe uncork it to 40+ level. Remember that he had 10 assists along with his 30+ points, so he was really looking to get his teammates involved. Kobe can score at will on this clown; there's nothing he can do to stop him.

More than 20, a few of those assists were for threes, and that's not even factoring in the And-1's.
