I hear nothing but great things about Jeanie the person, but do you really want her as owner of this organization?

I mean this is like Dolan level bad.

I wish she would just let Rob do his thing honestly.
And stop listening to her friends about basketball decisions.

Also, who's to say the next majority owner would be better? 50/50.
One thing we do know is that she loves the team.

I love the team too. Do you want me to run the team?

Depends, can you afford it?

If I start a gofundme who would donate so I can afford it? I think we’d all agree I’m the most qualified on LG.

Based on the stories I've heard, Jerry Buss wasn't around his kids a whole lot. Did he expect them to learn how to run a multi-billion dollar franchise through osmosis?

He should've passed the team on to some competent management prior to his death. He has a hand in this too.

I don't think he puts fans or the team above his kids. He did what any unselfish father would do.

I wouldn’t say it’s 50/50. Depends on who the candidates are.

Agree it's Jeanie. If she fired her brother then she is calling the shots. Or at least she is supposed to call the shots and is too afraid to actually do it and let a swarm of "friends" advise her into mistake after mistake.

It's on Jeanie.

Of course he would bail he's still owed a few years of $ from the Cavs so he had all the leverage.

The team is owned by the family but if she wanted to sell, I'm sure she could convince her other siblings to agree to sell as well. We can't take anymore of this losing record and lottery pick. It's been 6 years! How many more years does she want to prove herself? It's already been proven without a doubt she's incapable of running this franchise. It's painfully obvious she should step down.

Makes me miss the Jim Buss days. Their only downfall is they couldn't sign the big free agents.

I think the reality is she's going to keep doing it as long as she enjoys it; and her family will support her as long as the team makes money. She's 57 and has devoted her whole life to the Lakers; I don't imagine that she'll want to cash it in for money she really doesn't need and become a non-entity in Los Angeles.

Here is how much of a mess things are....

Magic Johnson, the guy who is Mr. Laker and making $10MM per season to run the team he loves more than any other in the world, and reportedly putting in minimal time, decided to step down because of dysfunction. This was after he signed the biggest name in the NBA and a top 3 of all time player. And while he was armed with good/great assets and max cap space to bring in another player (or 2) to take us back to the top.

Ya'll should process that a bit.

We a the definition of (bleep) show. Our controlling owner is listening to a former role player from the 80's who has been fired from every post playing basketball job, his wife who is the owners bff and knows NOTHING about basketball, and an agent who only got the job for representing our most recent star and now it's come to light that the NBA community as a whole does not like working with him.

I used to be the the person to make fun of those losing their minds over these things, but it's gotten to a new low. This summer could be the point of no return if we can lure a top free agent. West Coast Knicks feels like a fair assessment.

Good point. Jerry Buss should have trained his kids like his dad trained him on how to run the Lakers.

I actually think Jim and Mitch are competent pair. Their failure began when Jeanie started to step in and Jim made a timetable for making the playoff. Every team has a rebuilding dark era and most max free agents are not attracted to it. It was the misbelief that the Lakers can be the exception that set them with unrealistic expectation.

The most disappointing and probably damning part about those still hoping that Jeanie will eventually rise up and become the owner we always wanted is she has consistently made attempts to stay away from being that person, both in her words and actions.

I’m not a millionaire so it is hard for me to understand why some people are reluctant to surround thenswlves with intelligent people instead of staying in the inner circle. If people in the inner circle has respectful record then that’s another thing.
