I know it’s Dolan and the Knicks are the Knicks, but you know (bleep) has changed when the Brooklyn Nets beat out Knicks for KD/Kyrie.
This is why the Clippers jokes don’t resonate as much anymore.
It’s no longer a joke to join the big market stepchildren Clippers or Nets.

nah NYK is no where near the Lakers as far as franchise brand strength. |

Kyrie is awesome, i love his game and i would be thrilled if he comes to LA...but if he wants to play for his favorite childhood team, then i wish him all the best with the Nets, he deserves to go home and he deserves to do whatever makes him happy...
Plus, i love how he screwed the Celtics, he definitely helped us to get AD... |

I'm just surprised that there's someone whose favorite childhood team was the New Jersey Nets. _________________ ¡Hala Madrid! |

Since Kyrie was born in 92' he was right around that age when the Nets were actually good. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Looks like we are in a win-win situation here. Strike out on Kawhi, pursue Kyrie since it seems like he's trying to get KD to commit there. If they both go to Brooklyn, pursue Dlo and another FA. |

I think Kyrie/KD are going somewhere as a package.
And it isn't here.
Brooklyn or New York seems pretty obvious at this point. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

Bump?
Quote: | Stein:
There are credible rumblings in circulation that Irving, for starters, has indeed had some recent contact with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, his former Cleveland teammate, to presumably discuss a potential reunion in Hollywood.
I’m told it would be a stretch to suggest that the Lakers are currently pursuing Irving. They do not possess the trade assets to realistically engage Brooklyn in Irving trade talks even if he exercises his player option for next season.
The Lakers, as things stand, couldn’t offer Irving more than the midlevel exception for tax-paying teams for next season if Irving bypasses his player option to opt for free agency. That MLE, remember, tops out at a projected $6.39 million. The idea of Irving declining his player option and essentially playing for $30 million less in L.A., even after the $15-plus million he willingly sacrificed last season by refusing the COVID-19 vaccine and missing the first 35 games of the season, just doesn't seem plausible.
Then again: If any player is capable of shocking the NBA universe and accepting such a pay cut, isn’t Irving that guy?

This is an interesting situation. Kyrie controls his fate. If he really wants to leave he can just opt out of his contract and he decides where he goes. If he resigns it's because he is choosing where he goes. |

If he opts in it means he’s probably going to the Heat for assets if he opts out it’s either Nets or Lakers.. am I reading this right? |

If he opts out it's gonna be a crazy time in LA land. If the Nets sense he is going to Lakers do or die maybe they just do a Russ/Irving swap and hope for the best for a year. They can live off a KD/Brook reunion for a year. |

I'd think he could still opt in after he tells Nets that he will walk unless they trade him to Lakers |

Brian Windhorst with Sedano: Don’t rule out Kyrie joining the Lakers on the TMLE
He did say he expects Irving to be a Net but doesn’t rule the Lakers out |

Kyrie's not taking exception money.
Only way he would is if enough in the media adamantly declared that he would NOT. Then he might, lol. |

The cool thing about this rumor is it would take a Chris Paul veto to stop it is Kyrie and the Lakers mutually want it. Kyrie just opts out and Westbrook gets stretched to give Kyrie the 10 mil, which would be not THAT much more than he lost in his antivax stance. _________________ Darvin |
