I don't know how much of a difference that made today.

Yeah Vogel said it, when your defense is all about doubling Harden then sprinting to overcome the loose man scenario, mobility is key and McGee and Dwight becomes a liability. Kieff has a bit more mobility I think. The Rockets are abusing the McGee minutes and they abused the Dwight minutes in game one as well.

Lakersnation was talking about it on their podcast. In game 2 the Lakers trapped in the first half, the Rockets went into halftime made adjustments, and blitzed the Lakers in the third. After the game Houston said their confidence was sky high because they figured the Lakers out. They figured out the trap strategy.

So into game 3 Houston walks in ready to combat the Lakers trapping Harden ... except they didn't. Not in the first half anyway. Then half time comes, Vogel takes McGee out, puts in Kieff, and they trap Harden the rest of the game.

That's some epic trolling by Vogel.

I don't know how the season will end but we have to give Vogel big credit. Defense we are playing is really good. Rotations are sometimes questionable but at the end it works. He showed big cojones putting Rondo into rotation after 6 months of pause. Its paying off. He proved me wrong many times and I am more than happy for it.

Vogel is playing everyone right. We have out rebounded Rockets even without 2 centers and slowed them down without starter AB. Kuzma is playing with much improved defense. KCP is much more visible. Rando is playing well with LBJ......

Man, a combined 8 points from KCP/Green. What can he do to get them going? They seem to have wide open looks for the most part.

Is Vogel better at making adjustments than Phil?

Game to game? I honestly can't remember... But Phil was pretty effective. If we're talking in game adjustments... You have to contend with Phil's passive aggressive belief in letting the team screw themselves over and just let them either figure it out... Or lose.

Phil used to drive me crazy with this, specially not calling a timeout

It's funny because I've been starting to see so many similarities this team has had with the 1999/2000 title team. The beginning of games in the playoffs always seemed to start off rough due to the starting lineup of opposing teams not guarding Harper or A.C. Green, to go along with the older, inconsistent and bad defensive player in Glen Rice so teams could just key-in on Shaq & Kobe in the 1st quarter and 3rd quarter. But, the best lineups always consisted the bench of Fisher, Fox, Horry, & Shaw with Shaq & Kobe was when the Lakers played their best and were the ones that played in crunch time. Similar situation now with the Lakers starting McGee, who teams don't need to worry at all, with inconsistent shooters in Green & KCP, so teams can just worry about Bron & AD, but the best lineups this playoffs are with the bench players with both Kuzma & Caruso for most of the playoffs, and now with Rondo and Morris the last 2 games have been the best players with Bron & AD.

This year's team and the 2000 team were elite defensive teams with 2 dominant superstars that can go off for 60+ combined consistently throughout the playoffs. The Clippers this year are talked about same way as the 2000 Blazers were with the media having this year's matchup with the Lakers vs Clippers as 2-Deep vs. Too Deep with how much more talent, depth, and deep the Clippers are compared to the Lakers outside of their 2 best players. The media had the 2000 Lakers as a low seed to make the playoffs, while this year's team was seen as a 4th-5th seed at best with many doubting they were real title contenders. Phil & Vogel now had their best lineups and better players that fit around their 2 superstars on the bench and both can be viewed as stubborn as well.

Obviously don' want to get ahead of myself at all, as you can't really compare Vogel to the greatest coach in NBA history, but Vogel might be the best defensive head coach in the NBA, up there with Nurse, Spo, & Stevens. Offensively can view that as a weakness for Vogel, but he is elite when it comes to preparation, gameplanning, and adjustments, especially coming out from the half in the 3rd quarter is when he tends to have figured out the opposing team and the Lakers take it up another level on both ends of the floor.

Oh (bleep) no!! Give Handy the primary assistant coach if you have to.

They need to keep him. You can see the skills development in a few of the Lakers. Pay him, do what you need to do to keep him.

That's what I was thinking too, once Kidd leaves.

Yeah, I think if Lebron wants Handy to stay, he stays. If Lebron wants Handy to get paid, he gets paid.

I can only hope. I gotta believe Steve will be as relentless as a coach as he was a player. Phil will be either our or the nets prom queen.

Its been a while since we've had a coach whose decisions I agree with so much.

Most recent example is putting Brow on Westbrook so he's not wasted standing in the short corner guarding PJ Tucker.

Vogel’s rotations were great tonight.

Imagine a coach who is willing to put in a 19 year old rookie with the tools over JR Smith.

Really impressive adjustments throughout the playoffs.

Yeah, he's been coaching his ass off these Playoffs. It's so nice to have a coach that actually thinks outside of the box at times and makes great adjustments both in game and between games.

Looking back, I was guilty of doubting the Vogel hire, even though having Hollins and Kidd as assistants made things better. Now I'm so grateful for a coach we can actually say is good and fits the culture of the team so well. Our star players fully buy into his system, players don't pout over DNPs and team chemistry is at an all time high, he always keeps the team even-keeled and makes smart adjustments both in-game and between games, AND he knows his personnel well enough to know who to trust to put into games (be it a 19 year old rookie or a vet who hasn't played a real game in months)..

I guess what I want to say is, I love you coach Vogel
