| Just saw this movie. It was a lot better than I was expecting it to be. It doesn’t quite match the original animated movie from Disney, but it’s quite good, IMO. Most of the changes were pretty solid and I enjoyed the new song. Will Smith as the genie was a little strange, of course, but I thought he did a great job overall when he was in his (minor spoiler) human disguise as opposed to the blue cgi form, and even that wasn’t too bad after the initial shock of it faded away. The guy who played Aladdin was properly charming and roguish, Jaffar was a little more fleshed out than his animated counterpart, and Naomi Scott was smoking (her face reminded me a lot of Sarah Michelle Geller in her Buffy days, and I was majorly lusting after Buffy in my high school days). A much better live action adaptation than Beauty and the Beast. |
