Fellow LG'rs:

I have refrained from dogging the present state of our team in the hopes that we would do "something" that signals to us fans that mgmt does indeed have a plan for the future. It is now 12:34 EST. (was noon the deadline?) and nothing has been done (or announced) by our beloved Lakers to improve this team.

I have read all the points/counterpoints of educated posters here and read articles and rumors on boards and sports websites like the rest of you. But for the life of me I don't understand how/why we can't pull the trigger on seemingly a plethora of opportunites out there that can improve this team and not handicap us for the long-term. Basically, by not making a move now, mgmt (Kup) MUST KNOW that he has a FOR SURE acquisition in the Summer or by next years trade deadline. How he knows this, I'm not sure, but at this point he is putting his job and this franchise on it. There is simply no other way to explain how anyone can take your best commodity, who is having arguably the best year of his career and piss it away. They are devaluing their best asset. I for one don't believe that we will see Kobe play a better season then he is now.

Never mind the wear and tear on his body which I think he can overcome with his work ethic, but the mental strain of looking around at the people he has to go to war with and seeing a bunch of "busters" in the foxhole with him. That, my friends is depressing. Watching our team this year is hoping Kobe does the amazing (which he often does) or watching us slip mistake our way to another loss. This team as currently constituted is going to be hard pressed to win enough to make the playoffs...and to me that is a shame to do Kobe that way.

Lastly, I like Lamar, but he isn't the answer as the facilitator in my opinion. His decision making is very apprehensive which stalls the offense, not to mention his on again/off again aggression or attention to details and focus. Putting him and Kwame on the court together is doom more often than not. Those two are asleep at the wheel half the time.

Why we are keeping expiring K's on the books is beyond explanation to me. Can our "capologists" explain that to me? Should I even mention our "Insiders"? Well, all I'll say is, I have no problem with them posting that deals are 'done', etc., but disappearing when nothing is happening is bush league. You should face the music and just say "blah, blah" happened or whatever. I'm cool with that. I guess what I'm saying is, I like reading our Insiders info, it makes coming to this board fun, but if a deal WERE to happen, you all would be on basking in the "I told you so" glow, why the disappearing act when things don't go down like you heard from your sources, etc.

Ok. Well, thanks for the clarification on that point and that's why I asked. So hold the phone on my diatribe for now, but revisit should we stand pat with this squad.

3PM EST. so thats 12 Noon PST. just a little over 2 hours to go. and trades can also be announced after that time as long as the paperwork is in by then. But dont keep your hopes up. This is Mitch we're talking about here guys.

He's just gonna "Mitch it up!" like he does every year.

Hell, I hear you Wolf, but dang, why are we always the LAST folks to do anything. I hope our Lakes aren't falling into the abyss. You know, becoming the Oakland Raiders of basketball with Jerry doing his best Al Davis impersonation. I just don't understand why seemingly everyone and their grandmother can put a deal together but us. We MUST know something everyone else doesn't. It is beyond comprehension how we haven't made a move already--I would have been happy with Choke Man Sprewel even. Something to give this team some kind of boost. The games are lethargic and strained, not free-flowing and no one other than Kobe can be relied upon for consistent scoring save for Cook as of late.

I guess the thought of them not making a trade is quite disturbing, almost like hearing Mike Tyson being knocked out in Tokyo by B Douglas.

I will be like "No Way" did they NOT make a trade if 3PM comes and nothing has happened.

I'm about as worried as Kobe seems to be about the situation, which is seemingly not very worried at all. If Kobe doesn't feel his prime is being wasted then who is a better judge of that, Kobe or the rest of us. Kobe doesn't seem to be anywhere close to panick and I keep hearing allthe BS about how it's HIS prime that's being wasted. I don't buy it. Kobe's smart enough to know that it takes time to build and the first pieces need to be given a chance to see if they fit before hitting any panick buttons. If things don't look brighter by the 2007 mid season trade deadline then I'll start to worry, and I'm pretty sure that's Kobe's thinking as well. Kiddies need everything right now, but men are patient enough to wait for a better prize.

The Lakers blew a chance to get some backup help in here. Murray and Anderson either would have helped. If Mitch says any more crap about getting Aaron McKie back I will throw up. I don't give 15 cents for the "insider" stuff about TMac, Garnett, etc. I just wanted the Lakers to improve the bench. Reggie Evans and Flip Murray would have helped. Medvedenko is out for the season, couldn;t mitch have gotten something in return for him that will help this team? I'm sick of this standing pat crap.

Can't argue with that. How hard can it be to try to add something to the bench?? 90% of the guys traded today were bench guys, and most could've helped us out.

Unless you know Kobe personally and asked him about it, no one will know how he feels.

Anyways, we couldn't even get ONE veteran player to help out this team. Sorry for saying this but that is #%!$en sad.
