Lonzo is shooting improvement away from being an all star.
Would not trade him until given a chance to be coached by Kidd and
perhaps a shooting coach.
Lonzo now has a coach who he should emulate.
Why not give him a chance? |

I heard Lonzo kills baby seals instead of working on his FTs. That's why his FT motion looks like he's clubbing baby seals. _________________ Under New Management |

lonzo is such a ridiculous player. great defender, great passer, the WORST shooter. this is a terrible combo for a ballhandler/pg call it whatever you want. the guy bringing the ball up and dictating the offense MUST have a decent ft%. listen carefully...if this guy doesn't have good ft% (like above 80) we will LOSE GAMES. like, losing playoff games, RS games, lots of important games. I don't see any reason regarding patience or give him a chance, etc., this is a grown man in the nba. this ft% is huge concern lol. we're talking about winning games. not getting good def stats and goot PERs or whatever. doesn't matter.
lebron is an avg ft shooter....70s. how many games did we lose because he bricked fts? now imagine lonzo running the show....lonzo is not even 50%....we're talking losing a ton of games. it's not manageable.
so now we can't use lonzo as our ballhandler. and his true gift is passing. this is why you learn how to hit ft's when you are like 10. any gym player is better than lonzo at ft%. what's next? gifted 3pt shooters that can't dribble? 7footers that can't catch the ball (well we've already seen that)? |

STOP looking at FT%!! He takes one a game! His FT% isn't costing us anything! Sick and tired of this narrative.
His FTA rate however....now THAT'S costing us games. |

Agree. And I think his percentage would come up if he shot more of them. Pretty tough to get a rhythm when you take two attempts a week. |

He’s not going to be in the end of close games with that FT %. His lack of FTA is because he shies away from contact or settles for bad 3 pointers since he clearly does not want to shoot free throws. |

Definitely has flaws. And needs to improve his game.
I'm just surprised at those that are adamant that he CAN'T improve. |

I've never understood this concept: why is shooting 50% from the field considered a winning formula but shooting 50% from the FT line considered a losing formula?
Shouldn't they be the same?
For example, if you attempted 100 fgs a game (not counting 3s) and you made 50%, you'd have 100 pts.
If you attempted 100 fgs a game and you got fouled every time, you'd go to the FT line 100 times and get 200 attempts. If you make 50%, you'd end up with 100 pts. |

exactly. and that's a big deal. this is why people need to get their heads out of the numbers.
you have your BALLHANDLER shying away from contact and playing hot potato with the ball so that he doesn't have to take free throws. this is awful for trying to win games. the reason why magic, stockton, nash etc were great ballhandlers and distributers is specifically because the defense cant foul them since they are like 90% at ft. so they have to respect that, play hands off, etc. with lonzo, they want to foul him, so now his decision making has to be to get rid of the ball before he gets fouled. this is BAAAAAD. that means he can't make the smart decision of passing or shooting what the defense is giving him, but instead he is freaking out and instead of finding the open man he has to just get rid of the ball. you can't win with that. no way. you'd need a LOT of ref calls to make that work. they'd have to let him travel, and foul anyone he wants, and all sorts of bs in order for him to succeed.
so once again....
lonzo better get better at ft's or else he is NEVER going to be remotely good. |

I actually think it's much more than him shying away from contact. Fouls are committed when an offensive player puts a defensive player at a disadvantage after a move is made, a counter move, a hesitation, a pump fake, counter dribbles, etc..
Those are skills Lonzo doesn't have because of his lack of handle. He doesn't put players at disadvantages. His handle is pretty rudimentary/below average for a PG. Doesn't have the skills to break down a defender. Doesn't attack the paint (in half court), nor have the requisite shots in/around the paint (shooting floating left or right, floaters, can't change his release angle in traffic, and so on). Basically Lonzo doesn't have the requisite skills to put defenders at disadvantages that forces them to foul.
I think getting 1 FTA per game from your 6'6" (uber athletic) starting PG playing 30 minutes per game is a fatal team flaw. And although Lonzo is definitely not a ball dominant PG, his FTA rate is indicative of his inability to penetrate, his non-existent mid range game (in the paint), and his rudimentary handle (completely lack of shake). He's then relegated to being a poor off-ball spot up shooter. And we know now how that has gone for 2 years. |

Hopefully we can at least get a 2nd round pick in a trade for him. But it might turn out that we have to attach a pick just to get rid of him |

Lonzo hates otters, epak.
Hates. Otters.
The Lakers would be lucky to get a 2nd round pick for a monster like that. _________________ Under New Management |

Players cannot improve their game.
Just like an otter hater cannot lessen their hate for otters.
Tis the world we live in. Bite the bullet! Attach the 2020 2nd rounder. |
