shouldn’t the title use “and” instead of “or?”
And if Magic helps land Kahwi or AD, all would be forgiven. |

kawhi yes
AD depends on whether we sign another max or not. If we trade for AD after striking out or sign him next year by punting capspace then it still wouldn't be a good look. |

Free agents stand to make more money moving to join Lebron in LA so yes is the answer. A top free agent like Durant can increase his endorsement earnings with the Lakers or Knicks. I think it's more likely top agents increase endorsement revenue with the Lakers.
LeBron James
Total Earnings: $88.7 million
Salary/bonuses: $35.7 million
Endorsements: $53 million
James joined the Lakers last year as a free agent with a four-year, $153 million contract. The final year is a $41 million player option. His endorsement partners include Nike, Coca-Cola, Beats By Dre, Blaze Pizza and 2K Sports. James and his partners have 14 Blaze franchises open in Chicago and seven more in South Florida.
Top Free Agent Earnings
Kevin Durant
Total Earnings: $65 million
Salary/bonuses: $30 million
Endorsements: $35 million
Durant is eligible for a five-year contract extension from the Warriors this summer worth around $220 million (the exact number depends on the salary cap), which would set an NBA record. KD wants to be an NBA owner one day and has already earned more than $400 million in salary and endorsements during his career. He committed $10 million last year to open the Durant Center in Price George’s County, Maryland, where he grew up. It is the first College Track program on the East Coast and will help kids from low-income households attend college.
Kawhi Leonard
Total Earnings: ?? $19 million
Salary $23,114,066
Endorsements ?? New Balance
As a result of the trade, the bulk of Leonard’s $20,099,188 salary next season will be taxed at Ontario’s 53.53% rate rather than San Antonio’s meager 37% (US federal) rate. In all, Leonard will owe about $2.07 million more in taxes as a result of the trade. Kawhi Leonard has an estimated net worth of $30 million USD.
New Balance offered “significantly more” than $5 million per season, an amount that would put Leonard among the top-15 shoe endorsement deal earners in the league. It is unclear if he will have a signature shoe, but he will be the highest-profile player New Balance has on its roster.
Kyrie Irving
Total Earnings: $36.1 Million
Salary US$19.1 Million
Endorsements US$17 Million
Kyrie has a reported net worth of $50 million. _________________ "Bobbin' and weavin' and let the good get even" |

Great points.
Vegas has Clippers as best odds.
Kawhi we know is a low profile person, humble, drama free and somewhat thrifty.
LA market provides great exposure and endorsement opportunities.
Clippers, well when was last time they signed a franchise level free agent? How many rings have they won?
Lakers has alot of drama right now and intense media criticism, but playing with Lebron, the exposure would be through the roof. The ratings will be high. _________________ The journey to 17 begins... |

Yeah, that's a HUGE reason why he should sign with the Lakers over the Clippers, LeBron is the "mouthpiece" and Kawhi gets to stand back in the shadows.
If Kawhi signs with the Clipps, he will be forced to be the face of the franchise and the spotlight will always be on him! _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

Quote: | And he still drives the 1997 Chevy Tahoe he had in high school.
Kawhi’s 20-year-old SUV is affectionately nicknamed Gas Guzzler. “It runs,” Leonard told Sports Illustrated, “and it’s paid off.” The old Tahoe is a perfect illustration of Kawhi’s reserved and humble personality. He is notoriously quiet — a notable trait in a league whose superstars are iconic global celebrities adept at media relations and personal branding. |

Kobe can, but he isn't going to....
He wants these dudes to find it in themselves to play for the franchise knowing the risks/obstacles that will come along with putting the colors, but also the potential GLORY... |

I think the Lakers "back in the shadows" is still way more exposure than the Clippers spotlight... So no, I don*t think he likes that. |

I'm a bit suspect of Kobe's motivation to help Lebron approach his 5 rings, and do it as a Laker no less. People are excited he's been talking to Kyrie. But honestly, I'm nervous about that. Yeah they talking, but is he recruiting? Or is he giving him all that Mamba Mentality stuff? You can't be seen teaming up with Bron again, you're your own man, etc. How do we know what Kobe is saying? |

"But the team has taken a beating of late, specifically with Johnson undermining the front office and ownership."
That statement, Eric, bugs the hell out of me. Not because it's false, but because it's true!
How could someone that professes love for the organization, and yet at the same time totally ignore the potential short term, and potentially long term, damage his influence, which was used to lure LeBron, could do to upcoming negotiations?
One simple answer: selfishness! Ok, with that said a few points about the article:
It appears to me that if James, and possibly Kobe, don't get involved in recruiting, someone whose most notable present client is Ariza, won't have the cache to reel in one of the two main targets of summer 2109.
I don't have any idea what KL is thinking but one thing that is apparent about this guy is his total lack of interest to be in the spotlight. His interviews after games comes off as forced, and as if they're an imposition for him.
Westbrook & James together? I've always loved RW's elite athleticism, but I've always hated his game. Can his game mesh with James'? I don't know, but I do know the urgency to acquire shooters would accelerate. As good as they are athletically, outside shooting is what neither does best.
Thank you Magic for your work, but I hate the $%^&& that you haven't learned the simple skill, at least in these particular circumstances, to not say anything, if you can't say something positive.
Frankly, before you went on your victim tour, if you'd thought anything about the fans feelings, and the entire lack of necessity to share your fragile, adolescent, hurt feelings, you wouldn't haven't been so callous as to their effect on other people than RP.
You wanted to hurt him, but you hurt us too, just because your ego was/is bigger than your heart. |
