A longtime female staffer was called into an office with Johnson and Pelinka after making a mistake, according to multiple staffers present and others familiar with the incident.
"I don't stand for mistakes!" Johnson shouted at her. "I don't make mistakes.
Magic doesn’t make mistakes, he is just one of the worst talent evaluators in the history of basketball
I would take the high road and let the world see Magic as the egocentric fool he portrays himself to be.
Loved him as a player, not so much as anything else Lakers related.
But isn’t that the reason Magic started kicking dirt on the Lakers? He wanted to clean up his messy live resignation. So I think they should continue to leak stuff on Magic. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

Not having transportation arranged for a recruit is a pretty egregious mistake. When a lowly staffer makes a mistake like that it reflects on Magic because he's the guy that'll be shaking hands with that player. He has a right to be angry.

Magic has a right to be angry for sure. Doesn’t change the fact that he made a hypocritical statement as he has made a ton of mistakes, including many in less than 1 year. Pot meet kettle when it comes to Magic.

Jeanie isn’t qualified to run a Dairy Queen. We have suffered from her incompetence for 6 seasons.
IMO she has the credentials but she does not have the business acumen in certain areas that is and will be needed to clean up this never-ending PR nightmare.

Um the Lakers are doing excellent on the business side so you’re wrong. Now if you want to say she doesn’t know how to put together a winning organization I agree. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

"He comes off to the fan base with the big love and the smile," said one ex-Lakers athletic training official who interacted directly with Johnson. "But he's not -- he's a fear monger."
Thats the Earvin Johnson alot of people know as the real Earvin Johnson.
He was “Magical” on the court wearing the #32 for the Lakers.
Aside from that. He’s a pile of crap.
Listening to Sirius Radio. The Lakers are taking a hit from he story but he bulk of it his hitting Magic’s clean image and questioning his credibility and sincerity. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

I really used to love magic. I now hate him. The Lakers are supposed to be a family. It was what was unique about the franchise. Once a laker, always a laker. Nobody ever spoke against the brand no matter how disgruntled. I would be ok with taking his jersey down at this point. What he did was amazing in the showtime era, but this is getting to the place of beyond forgiveness. Jeanie needs to come out guns blazing and put tragic in his place. The fans will rally behind her because right now magic is taking in serious water. She wants to make it as an owner time to go for the throat. Just like her daddy did when he had to. Magic is sabotaging this franchise and the fans need to let him know it’s unacceptable.

You're too harsh. Her biggest mistake was trusting Ervin "Poison" Johnson to have anyitng to do with the team. She should have left him as a former Laker great and ambassador for the team but she put him in a position where his true colors would show and it became obvious it was Magic #1, Lakers down the list.

Shaq says "Hi."
This is the reason why Shaq will never be a Laker to me, regardless of retired jersey's or statues.
I'm not there yet as it pertains to Earvin (whom I will never call "Magic" again, since that was the player I used to watch in the 80's). My view of Mr Johnson has definitely changed though. His sabotaging this franchise a month before a free agency period that we've been working towards for over half a decade, will not go overlooked. It is obvious he looks out for himself first, not the team. _________________ Don't make me give you a trout slap!

She's fine on the business side, except when it comes to rumor and media control, where she's getting her butt spanked. Most importantly she needs to go beyond her tight circle of friends for building a team.
One silver lining is Jesse Buss in eyeing college prospects. She got lucky there to have a sibling with real talent.
fwiw Vogel might not be a bad starting point either at coach.

It's the Lakers. Giving her credit for turning a profit is like giving a trust fund baby credit for sticking their parent's money into an index fund and watching its worth grow year-by-year.

I'd say Jeanie is competent/adequate on the business side (since I agree that it's pretty easy to succeed off the Lakers name, at least for a while). On the basketball side, I used to think she was the lesser of two evils when compared to Jimbo, but now I'm thinking they're equally terrible. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."
