I understand and believe that Paul and LBJ will be a lot better than Paul and Harden are as a tag team.

However I simply say that will be a blunder- you can not take on that CP3 contract even if it is a direct salary cap dump.

He is still an all star caliber - maybe not all star lock but fringe all star level player but he can not be your teams second best or highest paid player. We do not have a star young player that is on a rookie deal to make it work out even where that star rookie contract player makes up for CP3s bloated deal

Im fine with Lakers trading 4, Ball, Ingram etc for AD. You have cap after the move to go out and get other free agents, and then vet min guys will jump on a team like that.

Ideally though we just land a top 6 free agent and then go from there. KD 1, Kawhi 2, Kyrie 3, Kemba 4, Klay 5, Jimmy 6. Need one of those guys and then worry about the rest after.

I much rather have LeBron/AD/Kemba then LeBron/AD/CP3 I would only be interested in CP3 if the Rockets are willing to throw in sweetners.

I’d love to get LBJ, CP3 and Melo on the same team... If we’re in 2009

Disc 1 of Physical Graffiti is awesome. Disc 2 is an absolute masterpiece.

Are we really talking about getting Chris Paul? SMH

The only worse move you could make is trading for John Wall.

I agree. I would rather trade Lebron than trade for CP3

I'm not sure there's anything in there about the Lakers actually considering this. Could be mistaken but this is more of an editorial than an actual report. Like something LG's favorite Inspector Gadget would make a post about.

I enjoy rooting against Paul too much to want him on the Lakers.

Paul is a trojan horse. Not getting any younger and just had a poor season for a guy making as much as he does - and he's the inverse of what you want. As he declines, he gets paid more, with increased contract payments.

It would be a boneheaded move if they did it, and be the topping of the crap cake of the past several months. I'll stay optomistic and just say the Lakers FO is not that desperate and they will say..

no, just no.

The Knicks seem to be the team that would take on Chris Paul

Leonard and Durant are the only two players in the league to go all out for. Davis and Irving are not bad players. But there will to win is just as weak as LeBrons. Having two of those players only works with luck involved.

AD has not shown that he can carry a team to the playoffs let alone win it.
Has he even been in the playoffs?
So happy Magic is not making his emotional decisions anymore.
Irving can be gotten without loss of assets. So would offer him max.
Would offer Butler max also.
Would seriously consider Kemba and Nikola.
Even consider DLO and Lopez back.
And Randle.
The Lakers are in a great position, but just don't give up valuable assets for pipe dreams.

I guess even stupid ideas need to be discussed.

It does lead to other fanbases pointing and laughing at "how desperate the Lakers must be if they want to trade for CP3".

Hell to the no for CP3. We'd be much better off trading Lebron to Houston for Harden. Both players time frames match up better on their new teams. Houston is definitely in win now mode. Lakers could benefit from having Harden lead our young squad. Pelinka used to be Harden's agent - Do it Rob!

As I’ve opined in this space a few times recently, hell no to Chris Paul.

It’s hard to imagine many players in the league with a more ridiculous contract over the next 3 seasons. And he’s one of the most overrated players I’ve ever seen.

No, thank you.

LBJ for Harden....hmmm....that is interesting. I just don't think Houston would do it. Harden is in his prime, LeBron is in the twilight of his career. CP3, and I'm going to catch a lot of flack for saying this, is WAY overrated. I will never understand the love affair sports media continues to have for this guy. CP3 is lucky if he plays another 60 game season, the guy is glass. On top of that...he's a team killer. The Clips and the Rockets had enough good talent around him to win a championship, and those teams always came up short.

There is no way we take on CP3 or his bloated contract. What scenario is there where that would make sense?

I’ve been a Lakers fan since 1962. But if they sign CP3, I think I’ll give up on them.

Yeah, I don't want CP3 here. His time has come and gone.

No suggestion this is something anyone is actually talking about this, and hard to imagine why the Lakers would do it. Just a space-filling article.
