This is all hypothetical, but if we trade the young core (specifically Zo & Ingram) for AD, I am worried we are not going to have good perimeter defense. What free agents can play D on the perimeter? On top of this, let's say we miss out on Butler.

Of course it will be amazing to have AD back there to protect the paint but I see us having issues guarding the point of attack. This is why I think it is so crucial to at least retain one of BI or Lonzo in any AD trade. Zo and BI are elite defenders in my eyes.

What would be your suggestion to the front office?

This is why we drafted Isaac Bonga. He can defend the perimeter.

I mentioned getting Jeff Green with the room exception, he isn’t the defensive player he was before but is still a solid in that end.

Ball is a rarity, there just are not that many great PG defenders in the NBA these days, period. There are to many good, quick PGs to keep up with anyway. So, i'm not really expecting to have a lock down defensive PG anyway. I know BI is long and everything, but he doesn't strike me as a good perimeter defender. He doesn't utilize that length like he should. With a 7-3 wing span, he should at least be getting steals and blocks in his sleep. Lakers should just target the best 3 and D defenders available that will play for cheap. Iman Shumpert? , etc.

I agree with Lonzo. Even though BI does not get the steals and blocks like he should, he still alters shots and makes people uncomfortable with his length. There is no denying that (Kyrie said it).

If we trade for AD and can't get a max FA... I would go after Brogdon and/or Pat Beverly (both great defenders and can hit the 3). And see if you can pry Bogdanovich from Indiana with the remaining $$. We need shooters!!

AD
LeBron
Bogdonavich
Brogdon
Beverley

I'm sure the Lakers would hire professional basketball players to defend the perimeter.

I wouldn't do the AD trade if we have to include both BI and ZO. So in this hypothetical we are keeping BI or ZO and that means one of them would guard the other teams best perimeter player.

I am down with Jemerrio Jones and Caruso coming back. Jemerrio gets after it on the defensive end and can rebound the hell out of the ball for someone his size. Perfect energy guy.

Yep. This is the dream scenario this summer. Especially if we can add a Max FA. Even if we can't add a max guy, I am good spending that money to fill out the roster on shooters.

Use some that leftover cap room to sign Patrick Beverly.

If you get AD you still have 30m to play with. I like Mclemore, Bullock, Beverly, Carroll, Ariza, Ferried (can switch up on guards).

3.Lebron

Wonder if we would have enough for Beverley and Dedmon. This lineup would go to WCF imo.

Beverley
Lonzo
Lebron
AD
Dedmon

Oh, another thread where people talk about trading for AD. We needed one of those.
