I think KD opts in and rehabs the year on the Warriors dime. |

Feel bad for him. He had always been so impressive to watch play. It will be a shame to see him diminished and his prime cut short. _________________ "We got a new universe coming and he's going to control all our universes. We're going to put our universes together" - Metta World Peace |

I feel bad for KD, but not getting the hate being thrown at GS org. They didn’t force him to play. He played because he’s a great competitor and there’s a title on the line. This and the next two (potential) games are elimination games for the Dubs. So he played because he wanted to help his team stay alive in the hunt for another title. And that’s exactly what happened.
These guys are (no pun) warriors. Players play when they can when the season is on the line. This is what they do. Jerry West played the last two games of the 1969 Finals on one leg. Willis Reed played Game 7 in 1970 on one leg. Kobe shot and made two free throws late in the game while his Achilles was rolled up in the back of his leg. Because the Lakers needed the win to stay alive just to make the playoffs, which Kobe already knew at that moment he would not be able to participate in.
Durant should and probably will opt in for next season with GS and collect his $31 million while he rehabs. Who’s going to give him some insanely long and expensive contract right now? It’s doubtful that he will ever again be the same, but he’s not too old to still play at a high level while he adjusts to his new physical reality when he finally returns. Any team that offers him some megabucks long-term contract this summer would have to be out of their minds.
I’m not a Warriors fan, but they are an excellent organization as has been proven beyond any shadow of a doubt these past several years. And thanks partly to Durant gutting it out, they’re still alive. Champions aren’t dead until they’re dead. The Raptors really need to finish it in Game 6. |

Players should run away from the Warriors. That was an achilles injury from the get go. When KD said he thought someone kicked him originally, just like Kobe...it was obvious. KD should have never been cleared and the Warrior doctors have some explaining to do. |

Felt sick to my stomach hearing this news. Worst part of the game. Hope he can make a full or fullish recovery. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

that's worse, if the team docs still cleared him without knowing fully if the injury has healed |

When I saw him sitting on the court tugging on his Achilles tendon, I immediately thought of Kobe. Because he's been dealing with that calf strain I was hoping he just strained it again. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

This is just very sad. 31, but he was in his peak prime years. Question is, if he didn’t play yesterday, will his Achilles has been too damaged it would happen at some time when he resumed playing? |

That's the thing. It's never known. It could have happened in practice, it could have not happened at all, it could have happened in another game, it could have happened in the off-season.
These things you can never really know.
With Kobe's it was more obvious because of him being run into the ground. KD's wasn't like that. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Dude couldn't even get through a practice on Thursday and had his Friday workout canceled. Yet he was somehow healed and ready to play full bore in the NBA Finals after being out a month. Sure Durant is a competitor but this is on the Warriors as much as it is on him. |

That was really a shocker. And I know sports can bring out the worst in people but man, watching them cheer, I hope basketball karma hits them hard. That was just terrible to see. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

There's one guy sitting in front row waving good bye when KD was sitting on the floor holding his calf. |

I'd never wish an injury on anyone but if I did KD would be the LAST GSW I would wish this upon. Hoping for a full recovery.
KD is one of the greatest NBA performers of our time.
I hope to see much more of him in the future. Good luck KD! |

Damn if you do damn if you don’t. If he didn’t play he would’ve got killed for not trying to come back and now he is potentially out for a long time |

Half apologizing. Crying for the cameras. Disgusting. Announce the injury and get off stage. Can't believe people are buying his bs. He's just trying to get sympathy for himself. |
You don't think it's possible that Myers was crying because he knew it was (partly) his fault, and also because the injury likely wiped out their best chance at another championship, either this year or in the future? |
Or maybe he likes KD and is sad to see him injured? _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

History not kind to those with achilles ruptures. Only exception is Dominique Wilkons: https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/basketball/news/history-not-kind-for-ruptured-achilles-recovery/
We've made all these advances in technology, player tracking, wearable devices and so fourth, but there's still an injury epidemic in youth and professional sports that isn't being addressed properly. It's the big elephant in the room IMO.
I wonder if more teams will employ the load management approach next season. Kawhi said he wouldn't be in the finals if they didn't manage him properly (one of the reasons he left the spurs). |
