Seriously though, let’s hope this time it’s actually true. We are (bleep) if it’s more serious than they are saying. |
Lol yeah and they used that exact term for Bron's MRI. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

It’s sneaky good. Can be anywhere between 3-6 months, MRI just doesn't detect certain tears. |

Good news!!
Surprised at the video showing him shooting today without anything on his thumb for support already. |

The Rockets routinely made the playoffs with T-Mac, in the West. Even the season where he only played 47 games, the team went 27-20 with him. Davis has failed to get past 35 wins in 5 of 7 years.
T-Mac was a playoff choker no doubt. But someone who can barely get there is top 5, or comparable to the all-time greats at his position? |
Not fair to compare guards to bigs IMO.
Much harder for a big to carry a team on their own.
Funny too how this was the place where not making the playoffs was better than getting there if you dont win it all. |
How are you coming to that conclusion (the bolded)? It’s easier for a great big to control both sides of the court. Not so for a guard. We can list numerous seasons of bigs carrying teams that weren’t stacked. Almost every instance of one star teams winning titles involved an elite big (Dream in 94, Duncan in 03, Dirk in 11). Jordan, Kobe, LeBron, Magic, Bird, Zeke...all stacked squads every time they won. |

Another (small) good thing that I'm seeing during the game: he's slapping hands with the hurt one. He doesn't seem to be protecting it. |

From the Lakers twitter:
"Anthony Davis, who was injured in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets, had an MRI today.
Results of the MRI confirmed a sprained right thumb and his status will be day-to-day."
Mmmmmm, day to day, I bet we all love those words. |

Because a big generally doesn’t run the offense. A big may have an offense run through him, but they generally need a guard to set them up.
I probably shouldn’t have said “harder”. I meant more... that a guard has greater control over the offensive efficiency of his team than a big does. This is probably more true now than it has ever been. The play doesn’t start with a big, it starts with a guard. So comparing the two in their ability to carry a team isn’t a fair exercise IMO.
I think especially in todays NBA, a star guard with an average big stands a much better chance of winning than a star big with an average guard. |

I agree with all that, but you are completely ignoring a bigs defensive impact. I think you are ignoring a great offensive bigs offensive impact as well. Dream, Duncan and Dirk had great control over their teams offensive efficiency. I listed them because they won titles without another player playing at a star level alongside them, something very rare for a great guard. And if you put a prime version of them in today's league they would have the same impact. There just aren't many bigs playing today that can match their impact, at least not ones durable enough to stay healthy and do it. |

My feeling is it was a big deal for not very much. He tweaked his thumb a bit and considering it's only pre-season they pulled him as a precaution. He'll be fine. _________________ Not a legend |

Anthony Davis said he completed a full practice today and his thumb felt fine.
LFR
Anthony Davis said he knew his thumb was “just a jam” and he completed the full practice: “It felt fine at practice today.”

Don’t think he should play tomorrow as precaution, but the Lakers might want to warn @NBA for a 3rd time |
