Yeah, this is becoming more and more clear. That will eventually cause a team issue if that’s not addressed early. Sounds like he wouldn’t have even agreed to a trade if not promised the starting role. I’m sure the other players know this...

If the Lakers were half as dramatic as the fans, games would never even get played

You think he's been "gunning"? I see a talented guy trying to fit his talents in with the other talented players. Yep, he is playing for a contract, but based on recent developments (AD, LeBron, Kuz extensions) I'd say he doesn't have to "play for a contract".

He can relax and play his game right now because the front office realizes his value, and is going to get something done. Hopefully soon.

He's taking the fewest attempts of any year out of his past 5 years (including this one) while shooting the highest FG% of his career, so how exactly is he "gunning"? His TS% is slightly lower than last year, but do we really think that will last?

Early season and still finding rhythm as a team.

If we're this inconsistent by February then it'd be time to worry but the most important thing for us is to get healthy and get consistent and get our timing and chemistry down.

Everything will start to take care of itself then once we find that groove, which will take time.

This is due to him settling a bit but Anthony Davis is taking SIX midrange shots per game and hitting them at a 54% clip to start the year. (Hit at a 50% clip in the playoffs)

I just want him healthy for the playoffs. If that means coasting a little. Let him coast a little.

Yeah man. I couldn't care less if Giannis racks up another reg season MVP with no competition from AD as long as Brow is healthy and ready to elevate his game when it really matters.

I appreciate the fact Coach Vogel has AD on the perimeter during the regular season. He showed that beautiful 3pt shot in the playoff run. Now, because of our offensive depth, he can save a significant amount of wear and tear on his body by staying off the block.

Guys like Dwight Howard, Drummond, and Embids would love the opportunity to beat up on him on the block. Ain't gonna happen. The idea convergence come playoff time is that he's relatively fresh but sharp, his three pointer splashing, and ready to man the 5 against any mf when the situation calls for it.

vogel is a genius....i wouldn't mind having lebron and ad shoot 10 3s per game and just hang on the perimeter. These guys proved they can get whatever they want. I am dead serious too

Stay fresh until the playoffs.

Schroder and Harrell can handle taking it to the rim. With Schroder on team, LBJ looks like he’s coasting for half the game. That was such a big time acquisition. LBJ had to do too much last season.

Dennis is not playing for no contract. This is who he is.

He won't force anything either. I think you guys are used to seeing Rondo's innability to force things and confusing it with "gunning".

16PPG 46% FG 37% 3PT 5APG 5RPG

is irving gunning for a contract?

He is the definition of "positionless" a guy who can do it from every aspect. THT is in the same mold.

It was very obvious yesterday. When LeBron started to care about the game, he won it all by himself.

Bron was fortunate to have so much rest before the playoffs last season. Since this year's regular season is so brutally packed with games, coasting at times for both AD and Bron will be crucial.

Dennis is probably gonna be our Van Exel 2.0... now and in the future. i'm down with that. takes the load of Bron as far as play making and having to save us when other players are standing around with their collective fingers up their rears.

and harrell will also take the load of LBJ (and AD). he doesn't mind getting beaten on. heck, he might even like it. LOL!

basically, those 2 along with kuz (and whoever else is "feeling it") will allow LBJ to coast a bit more during the regular season and keep AD from getting pummeled by other bigs.

It feels like it will take a miracle to get AD through the season healthy, guy hits the ground multiple times every game.

Even when he is in coast mode, every time he takes a jumper I find myself watching his ankles because he gets up so high and defenders get up under him.

Occupational hazard. He does elevate very high on his jumper. It's part of the beauty of it ....until he comes down. There's no doubt some guys in the league wouldn't mind slowing him down a bit with a twisted ankle.

Otherwise they have no chance of stopping him. The refs really have to be diligent to watch players stepping into that space allowed for him to come down with as much balance as possible.

Is anyone else starting to get concerned about AD defensively? I understand pacing yourself but AD used to pride himself on that end. His defense used to energize him on offense. He’s just been so disappointing on that end. This had to be one of his worst games on defense this season.

True. He needs to step up as well as hold others accountable.

Awesome. Davis is upset. Are others on the team? What do they do about it?

Luckily they have a game tomorrow to prove something. Will they?
