What do you think of this AD slogan?
"Bow to the BROW!"
Kind of on the lines of "Fear the Deer".
Might not convey the right tone though.... |

Man, people forget how amazing this guy is.
I think with all the pooping on his game, he is starting to get underrated. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Both him and Lebron are coming back with a vengeance!
Lebron - “not interested in winning championships anymore”
“Just wants to be in LA”
“More interested in Hollywood”
“Not the best player anymore”
We will see! |

How many “Anthony Davis has left the game with an injury” were there though?
Half kidding but dude leaves the game a LOT. Like maybe in one of every 4 games or so. |
Well, I also saw a lot of Pelicans games and yes he left a lot of games to the locker room to them come back later. I take a time to see his game logs last season:
1. he had 26 games of 37 mins. or more played until Jan 18, when he got injured.
2. of those 26 games, 9 where 40mins plus!!!
I have a tendency to think that all those "going to the locker room" was a kind of load balancing for him. |

Can AD start recruiting free agents for the Lakers on June 30th?
He and LeBron should show up on Kawhi's doorstep. _________________ Tacos |

Or dropping a load. A la Paul Pierce. JK.
Yea, I loved how the Raptors distributed their minutes.
No one played over 34 mpg.
And 12 guys played over 18 mpg (including the traded pieces).
I wish that could be the case for the Lakers. |

In the last two seasons with the Magic Vogel didn't play anyone more than 33 MPG |

Since the AD trade has technically not been consummated what stops this scenario from happening:
1) Lakers draft Darius Garland at #4 on Thursday(Rich Paul client)
2) Rich implores(more or less forces) Garland to sign the rookie contract
3) Now the Pelicans are strapped and have to consummate the trade on July 30
I suppose this is contingent on them wanting Garland, but they cannot back out of the trade now? |

They definitely would not all things equal, but say they stick to #4 and Garland actually is there guy(which makes a ton of sense given their current roster construction)
This scenario is leverage-Lakers and one that hasn’t been discussed |

Ramona said yesterday on Mason & Ireland that the Lakers are contractually obligated to draft for the Pelicans. They have no say in the matter. 🔒 _________________ “You have to dance beautifully in the box that you are comfortable dancing in.” - Kobe Bryant |

Darius Garland will conduct a last-minute workout in Tarrytown with the New York Knicks tomorrow, a source told ESPN. Garland is in serious consideration for the No. 3 pick. Minnesota, Boston, Chicago are teams looking at potentially trading up to No. 4 with Garland in mind. |
Wow, if Knicks take DG.
Lakers lucked out. They might have been bamboozled into taking RJ. |

Nice.
Hopefully the Lakers have good enough bench players where giving those guys minutes doesn't hurt the teams net rating too much. |

The only question about him and Lebron are health. And since he’s on a one year contract, it’s especially essential for Rob to build a team around him that can survive and at least tread water in the event that he and/or Lebron go down for a couple of weeks or more during the season. I don’t want him looking around and wondering what’s left for him if Lebron’s durability/dominance come into question because of his age and miles going into FA next summer. |

I would just like to see a huge unibrow arcing over his number on the back of his jersey. I'd buy that jersey. |

Man, I cannot believe how negative the coverage on this deal is. Sure, some people throw in the obligatory "Usually any time you get the best player in a deal, you win," but the majority and focus of the analysis is on either how much the Lakers gave up or how Rob Pelinka is so dumb that he bungled the cap space timing.
We just landed a top-five NBA talent. A DPOY & MVP type player who just turned 26 and has committed to re-signing with us long term. Sure, there are age concerns with LeBron, but we put together THE BEST TWO PLAYER TANDEM IN THE LEAGUE. LeBron and AD fit together perfectly and complement each other so unbelievably well, I cannot WAIT to see how ridiculous this team will be based upon those two players alone.
And while I want to pour one out for my young core and reminisce over the last five years, arguing against this deal is pure lunacy. The media LOVES to shower praise on the nerdy, asset-hoarding GMs like Ainge, Morey, and Presti, but those guys have ONE championship between them in the past decade-plus and there's a good argument that Danny owes that chip to the sweetheart deal he got his old pal (the GM of the Wolves) to gift him in the form of KG. Otherwise, those three teams haven't even made the FINALS and, from where I'm standing today, I'd take our position over ALL THREE of those teams easily.
It's pretty clear that we're making our bones on treating STAR players like they want to be treated: paying Kobe post-achilles tear, committing hard to LeBron after he committed to us. And it's also becoming clear that treating players like "assets" (i.e., squeezing every last drop from them during times of personal tragedy and trading them instead of paying them when due), makes it hard to keep or sign players.
Again, I still think we paid a king's ransom for AD and I want to see how the details shake out before heaping praise on Pelinka, but damn the Lakers are not being treated properly. We were in the lottery last year and, after this trade, we're probably the favorite (at least top-3) to win the 2020 chip. When's the narrative going to change? |

Of course, we have to pick the player they want, but we have yet to find out if the date is in writing. We don't even know if this is anything more than a verbal agreement. I believe what OP is wondering is if whoever we pick at 4, we get them to sign immediately. Would it be impossible to trade them before 30 days? Or would we just be trading their rights (no outgoing salary) if still done on the 6th? |
