Defensive stats are all trash. AD is by far the best overall defender in the league

He is the best but not by far but it does sound nice and it can’t be unproven so I am fine with it lol

I think he is by far the best. No one else in the league defends the paint and perimeter as well as he does. Giannis is the 2nd closest.

You would be wrong. He isn’t by far the best.

I think he has the potential to be the better defensive player though. But Giannis is just a force defensively. Surely the advanced stats back that up.

No, you are incorrect. Review the film and check the play type stats instead of the all inclusive stats. AD is by far better

Other than for homer reasons (understandable) what exactly do you mean “by far”?

I don’t think it makes sense to go down a stats argument. All the advanced stats favor Giannis so I’m not saying that to benefit me.

But Giannis and the Bucks have been so good, and especially of late, that he doesn’t even need to be on the court.

AD is great, but Giannis is slightly greater IMO. But Giannis has no LeBron so we win!

I think the most important offensive tool in today's game is lead facilitator guard skills. - Giannis.
AD has better wing ISO skills, kinda, and post skills for sure.

in terms of just getting a bucket, I'd probably lean AD, for sure if his midrange is falling.
But Giannis can run a team and create his own shot more because he doesn't need to be given the ball.

Sure but the thread chain was in response to a game of 1 on 1.

Giannis is more bulkier, AD is more of a finesse player. Giannis is better physically, but AD more skills.

Giannis brought the Bucks into NBA elite, he'll stay there for life.

I think AD is just as strong as Giannis, just in a different way. AD gets to where he wants in the post better, imo - with lower body strength, I think he has that on Giannis, he looks thicker in the lower body too. Giannis has upper body strength that he uses going down hill and shedding guys off the dribble, that's upper body... AD moves guys in the post with his post-base, his legs protrude from his body awkwardly, but when he's on balance he's super strong with his base. Giannis hits guys with his upper body in the post, his arm extends from his body to push, while AD roots guys out. and if you look at Giannis' legs, they're skinny, built like a wing, like KD with muscle. AD isn't built like a wing.

I also don't know who is more skilled. AD has more wing ISO skills, inside the 3pt line...But Giannis has the ball handling to consistently attack you from past the 3pt line.. I generally always think point guard skills like a functional PG handle, is more skilled than decent wing skills ----- I call AD's wing skills only decent, because he uses his handle to set up midrange meh shots, and doesn't consistently beat guys to the rim with his handle...doesn't even try to enough.

Lots of good points in here.
Not sold on the strength comparison totally though. Giannis just seems more violent when he’s attacking which makes it seem like he uses his strength more effectively. I could be wrong, however

def more violent, and that's because he's always attacking downhill from beyond the 3pt line..head of steam..that's the benefit of the PG functional handle. He has the right dribble moves to get downhill, and then he's not scared to use all of his strength to ram you, or euro step..
A criticism for AD is he doesn't often like to use all of his strength.. but when he does, he roots guys with a methodical backdown and gets to the rim. look at their two lower bodies in pics; AD is wider and has more weight to his trunk...he's built like a bigman..

I’d still take AD over Giannis .

Giannis is special for sure, but I’m not really sure how he fits in with another star player.

AD can kinda fit in with anyone because he’s so versatile.

Both great players but in different ways and I can’t wait to see them match up

Although that is one teams I’m afraid to play in the finals if we get there.

That 5 out spacing could kill us
