A signed petition is the reason Jerry Buss thought about rehiring Phil Jackson, even after his tell-all book.

It doesn't hurt to try. There isn't a better way to get the Fan's point across.

Awesome! Somebody actually took the initiative to get something done (unlike Mitch)!

Great job!

That thing is just terribly written. I agree with the concept, but it is poorly executed (like Lamar in Sac).

A more literate, well-reasoned petition needs to be written. It should be circulated on every Laker board (let's put aside our differences and unite for this one glorious cause); and as someone said, people should stand outside Staples and get signatures. If you could get five or ten thousand signatures within a couple of weeks, and forward that to the LA Times as well, perhaps the passive, innefective nature of this front office can become a major point of debate in the LA media.

Buss did take notice of the season ticket holders demands for Phil...

These online petitions crack me up.

Like a single one has ever persuaded the opposing party to make a single change.

I must agree. This is not a personal knock on the author. After all, the petition idea is simply brilliant!

It will be more effective and received better, if it's well written.

I'd volunteer, but my writing skills suck.

Totally agree...

Thank you Mitch for:
1) NOT PANICING and TRADE AWAY OUR FUTURE.
2) NOT Letting the other GM's STEAL Odom for LESS than he is worth.
3) NOT GIVING UP the PLAN to build the roster for the LONG TERM.
4) NOT LISTENING to ALL those who fall into the trap that every other GM would like you to have done and made a bad deal just to make a deal.

I don't want a GM who will panic and bend to pressure and as a result give up more for less on a whim that we have to do something right now or else all is lost.

I guess you might of guessed I passed on the petition. I even considered posting a counter petition, but realized just as drzucchini pointed out it would be just as much a "waste of bandwidth" as the current petition.

I'll go against the grain and agree with LA_Lakers_Rule. I was a bit miffed myself that the Lakers didn't make a move at all, but you have to look at the upside. Every player willl have the full year to be evaluated, and this may provide a spark. Since they were given no outside help, the only way they are going to be better than a .500 team is if people start pulling their own weight. I agree that I'd like to see them make a slick pickup like the Cavs did with Flip Murray, but who would have thought he would have been available for so cheap? I'm not going to ask for Mitch's job over him not making an upgrade at guard though, that just means George should play more against SGs.

I'm not going to judge, but I have to roll my eyes when I see some fans so desperate for a deal that they really want an injury prone, undersized inflated contract (Boozer) for way too much in return. George isn't a waste, he may be resigned after the year, and we all know George plays his butt off in his contract year.

I'm as big a Laker fan there is. However, if many of you folks spent 1% as much energy tracking and responding to the news that affects our daily lives rather than pissing it away on juvenile efforts like petitioning for the forced removal of the guy who drafted Andrew Bynum, our nation and world would be a much better place.

Get. Lives.
