What are the chances you guys think we'll strike out this year?
I actually think that we will not. We have so many choices, and with LeBron and AD in our pocket, it's going to make us an attractive destination for pretty much anyone hungry enough to win a championship. The odds are (finally) in our favor this year.
It feels so much better to know that, to be honest. I'm just curious if anyone else feels the same way about our infallibility. |

Better to strike out than do something foolish.
In fact, with the way our front office has been, striking out on these bigger names being floated around might not be a bad thing. It would actually give us a chance to fill out our roster with more than just minimum players |

I think KD and Klay stay in GS and Kawhi is 50/50 Toronto or the Clippers _________________ "We are the goodest." - Shaq ESPN interview |

That, or overpaying someone on a long contract. |

I think there's a good chance we overpay if we don't get a max guy, but I think just about everyone is going to get overpaid. |

We just need to get one of these five guys: Kyrie, Kawhi, Jimmy, Kemba or D'Angelo...if we do that, everything will be just fine... |

I can't put the odds of another top quality FA signing over 50/50 until I actually see it happen. Too many rumors, too many agents using the Lakers for leverage, too many in the press getting clicks by tossing the Lakers or Knicks into the discussion, we'll see in a week. |

This is why they got AD now.
Even if we "strike out," we can use that cap space to get quality non-max guys to surround LBJ/AD. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Getting AD means we haven't struck out, but in FA terms, the only way we can strike out is if we overpay role players that won't make a huge impact. So very low chance, but not impossible _________________ #18 next... |

No chance. We may not get another star but we will get some of the best role players _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

We can't strike out because we need to fill the roster with FA's. Now if we're talking about adding a 3rd top FA, that's as much a decision as well. We have gotten 2 top 10 FA's in 2 years, that's pretty damn good. Do we need a third? or should we fill the roster with a better supporting cast? There are arguments +/- for either direction.
Missing out on a 3rd top 10 free agent is not necessarily a strike out, is all I'm saying. IF played correctly it could be a blessing in disguise for some fans.
We won't have to wait long. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

This reminds me of that time all our players fouled out and we had to sub one back in. |

Had to wake Kaman up from his nap after he laid down across the empty bench. |

Depends. Are we swinging and whiffing?
Or is it a called strike while looking?
Better be swinging!
That being said, LeBron and AD and Rob are not striking out.
We'll get a sac fly at the least and score the runner on 3rd. |

High chance we strike out. I think 9 teams have max cap space and there are only about 5 guys worthy of the max: KD, Klay, Kyrie, Jimmy, Kemba, and someone will overpay for DLo.
KD/Klay = no chance
Kyrie = small chance
Jimmy = small chance, Philly has upperhand
Kemba = small chance, will take the 5 years
DLo = moderate chance; high chance if BKN signs Kyrie, no chance if GS-BKN do a sign/trade for KD |

AD is better than Love or Bosh... but does Cleveland or Miami win without Kyrie or Wade?
Signing a dynamic scorer/playmaker at guard is crucial.
The margin of AD's superiority to Love or Bosh cannot cancel out LBJ's inevitable diminishment at 35 years old PLUS the absence of any elite guard play. |
