Naomi Osaka out in the first round to Yulia Putintseva 7 6, 6 2.

Novak Djokovic got by Philipp Kohlschreiber 6 3, 7 5, 6 3.

Still pulling for one of my favorite players Gaël Monfils. I don't expect a win, hope for a good showing,.

Quite a stunning upset by Yulia, surprised to see Naomi go out in the 1st round.

Well done on the title thread with the emoji’s Jodeke👍, haven’t seen that before on LG. Perhaps it will be a start of new trend.

Well, another one of my favorite is gone. Gael Monfils retires. He hurt his ankle in training, it didn't hold up.

Crazy day with Venus going out to...the next Venus? And two big upsets on men's for young up n comer types. Djokovic with straightforward win.

Something seems going on with Osaka's emotions for some time now, but it's also true that grass courts are not going to be her thing. She can't volley at all. Players don't really have all around games basically because they don't generally need them baselining usually. Takes time, so she should figure it out especially with people playing into their late 30s now.

When I tuned into that match, for a minute I thought Gauff was Venus and I was watching a replay of one of her old matches from the 90s.

I missed that match. I caught the very end. She reminds me of Simone Biles. I'm going to be watching for her next match. I think Venus is done. Today will say a lot about where Serena is.

It looked like #11 Serena Williams was going to have a easy time with #161 Giulia Gatto-Monticone. Took the first set 6 2 but struggled in the second 7 5. I don't think she's all the way back. Her serve looked better than it has for some time.

#3 Roger Federer coasted by #86 Lloyd Harris though he stumbled in the 1st set 6 3 6 1, 6 2, 6 2.

Simone Biles is a 4'8" gymnast. Do you mean Sloane Stephens?

Oh wow! Serena and Andy Murray are going to play mixed doubles together.

I'd like to see that.

Barty came through after her French Open win. She should be great on the grass with her varied clever game. Rough draw though.

Fritz had a good win, but Tiafoe did his usual choke job. So talented but just not showing much mental grit.

Kyrgios nadal. If Kyrgios wins, it means nothing for him because he'll probably lose to some guy from madagascar next after quitting. It'll just be sad that nadal, a committed player, is out. If Kyrgios loses, which I think he will, means not much either. Speaking of so talented but not showing much (or any) fight. Guy is so talented that he could have been number 1 already two years ago. Anyway, I expect a Nadal revenge beat down, and then Kyrgios quitting like he does.

No I meant facially. Simone Biles /// Cori Gauff

Really not seeing the resemblance but okay. Just checking.

Earthquake ran me outside.

#10 Serena William had a relatively easy day with Kaja Juvan 2 6, 6 2, 6 4.

Not so much for #2 Rafael Nadal with #43 Nick Kyrgios. He had a hard fought 3 6, 6 3, 7 6, 7 6.

Center court is getting to the 15 year old. Her tosses are way off. The pressure seems to be to much for her
