makes me wonder if cocaine has deeply embedded itself back into baseball. I recall when José Fernández recently killed himself and his friends in a boating accident, and had a significant amount of cocaine in his system.
Yeah, that's pretty big. Not good for the franchise. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

I doubt he was the only MLB player using oxy....in his case he procured the illegal ones which are usually laced with fentanyl..unfortunately, it is just a reflection of American society that we have a huge drug problem.

Sounds like he wasn't the only one on the Angels. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

The quote of multiple players being involved if verified could blow a lid of something I don't think anyone saw coming.
Baseball travel (especially for pitchers) is different. You are in each city for 3, 4 or 5 days at a time...guys make connections and find vices. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny

This could be not just bad for the Angels, but for baseball in general. You know that many players are using; this isn't just an isolated thing. Athletes will do anything for an edge. In baseball, used to be amphetamines (greenies) for decades. Then steroids. Then PED's. With more stringent PED testing over the past decade or so, I wouldn't be surprised if certain players are finding whatever they can get their hands on for a perceived edge.
^I don't see how opiates could be providing any edge.
He was apparently snorting lines of cut up oxy for years as were perhaps other members of his team. That is not performance enhancing in my estimation for a professional athlete. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny

Yeah, they were just getting high off it. That's why he was mixing with alcohol. Not to improve his pitching.
Sounds like the Angles guys involved were addicted though. If the guy who was selling it to him was also using and in rehab for it, then he probably just liked to party with them and was a guy who could get it.

There's no 'edge' to be gained from opiates. This is addiction. _________________ So glad we gave you your flowers while you were here, Kobe.
I doubt any of those guys wanted to get fentanyl in their system. Its just a cheap filler for the drug dealers but highly toxic to anybody that comes into contact with it. It has its uses in the medical field but what we are talking about is drug abuse.

Yeah, it's the crazy new epidemic that's killing people by the thousands. Poor folks, celebrities, athletes. A 20 something kid that worked in my company died this year. It's nuts. Humans will never fail to find new ways to destroy themselves. _________________ Lakers. Built different.
This story is getting uglier and uglier for the Angels.
If the front office guys lied about being told about Skaggs, that is going to be an issue but the big news is apparently (allegedly) there was a pretty major opiate issue going on with the team.
I find it pretty shocking, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out.
